Two WCS high school students are being recognized by Gatorade for their athletic excellence. 🏐 ⚽️

Brentwood High's Eliza McKnight is this year's Gatorade Tennessee Volleyball Player of the Year. Eliza recorded 475 kills and 268 digs this past season, leading the Bruins to the Class AAA state championship match.

Ravenwood High's Simon Hetrick is the Gatorade Tennessee Boys Soccer Player of the Year. Simon helped the Ravenwood boys' soccer team win its first Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) soccer state title.

"The Gatorade Player of the Year award is widely regarded as the most prestigious honor in high school athletics," said WCS Athletic Director Patrick Whitlock. "We are incredibly proud of Eliza and Simon for earning this distinguished recognition. Their dedication, leadership, character and achievements represent the very best of WCS, and they serve as outstanding examples of what student-athletes can accomplish through hard work and commitment."

The Gatorade Player of the Year program celebrates the nation's best high school athletes for their excellence in sport, academics and community. The program annually recognizes one state winner from each of the 50 states and Washington D.C. in 12 different sports. From the pool of state winners, one national winner is selected in each sport.

Every Player of the Year receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner.
