Happy 92nd Birthday, Donald Duck!

We took full advantage of the occasion with a duck-tastic afternoon filled with laughter, learning, and a little technology magic! We explored the history of Donald Duck, learned about his famously feisty personality, shared a few quacky fun facts, and even tried our best Donald Duck impressions (some were better than others!).

Things got a little silly when we created our own duck bills using Pringles and put a little Tech Tuesday magic to work, transforming ourselves into animated masterpieces worthy of Duckburg! We may not have perfected Donald’s famous voice, but after our Pringles duck bills and animated transformations, we think Donald himself—and maybe even Walt Disney—would get a good laugh out of our ducky adventures.

Aw, phooey—what a wonderful way to celebrate 92 years of one of Disney’s most beloved characters!

We are thrilled to celebrate Chef Silvio for earning Second Place, Most Creative Burger, in Bridge Senior Living's first annual "Battle of the Burger" with his unforgettable creation, the Velvet Elvis!

This legendary sweet-and-savory masterpiece featured a juicy grilled burger nestled between toasted Eggo waffles, topped with crispy bacon, caramelized bananas, smoked Gouda cheese, and creamy peanut butter, served with warm caramel maple syrup for dipping. A true tribute to indulgent Southern comfort food!

What makes this achievement even more special is the collaboration behind it. The Velvet Elvis was inspired and brought to life through the creativity and partnership of Chef Silvio, the wonderful residents of Somerby Franklin, and the Lifestyle Team. Together, they created a one-of-a-kind burger that captured the spirit, personality, and community that make Somerby Franklin so unique.

Summer has officially arrived, and our community is bringing all the beachy vibes this season with our summer door décor creations. Residents had so much fun designing colorful beach ball door hangers inspired by sunshine, sandy shores, and summertime memories.

The best part? Adding their own playful personality with quirky sayings and fun phrases — including Elaine’s now-famous “Hello Toots” greeting that had everyone smiling down the hallway.

A little creativity, a lot of laughter, and the perfect way to welcome summer!

This week we celebrated World Bee Day with a day full of buzzin’ fun and unforgettable experiences. From the sweetest honey tastings to Bumble Bee Flower Pot Painting, the day was filled with creativity, laughter, and learning.

Residents also enjoyed our educational presentation, The Power of Pollinators: Nature’s Tiny Heroes, where we explored the incredible role bees play in our environment and why these tiny pollinators are so important to our world.

One of the biggest highlights of the celebration was our Bee’s Knees & Beyond: Mixology Workshop. Residents took a flavorful journey through the history of the classic Prohibition-era cocktail, The Bee’s Knees — a refreshing blend of herbaceous gin, honey, and lemon. But that wasn’t all! We also sampled a tropical rum-inspired version that transported us straight to the Caribbean.

The true star of the show was our Crown Peach Bee’s Knees, where a jazzy prohibition cocktail found its place on a Tennessee back porch. Sweet, smooth, and absolutely delicious!

It was truly a bee-autiful celebration filled with sweet memories, great conversation, and plenty of fun along the way.

This week’s Tech Tuesday launched us straight into the future… and almost to the moon!

Our theme, “Tech in Orbit: Exploring Space Innovation,” took residents on a journey through space technology, rockets, innovation, and the incredible world of space exploration. We talked about how far technology has come — from the first rockets to exploring planets far beyond our own.

But learning about rockets wasn’t enough for this group… we had to build one ourselves!

So, on a beautiful afternoon, we headed outside with Chef Silvio joining the mission. Together, we tackled the challenge of building our rocket ship. There may have been a few moments of “Wait… does this piece go here?” mixed in with lots of laughter, but after some teamwork and determination, mission control officially had a rocket ready for launch.

Then came the countdown…

3… 2… 1… BLAST OFF!

With the help of two resident volunteers, our rocket soared through the sky to the moon… or at least what looked like the moon if it happened to be floating about 200 feet above us!

It was a day full of sunshine, laughs, teamwork, and just enough imagination to make us all feel like astronauts for the afternoon.
