Becoming a neurosurgeon requires years of education, intensive surgical training, and a lifelong commitment to learning. From undergraduate education and medical school to a 7-year neurosurgery residency and often additional fellowship training - the journey can take 15+ years after high school.

For Dr. Ahuja, that dedication has grown into decades of experience caring for patients and advancing his expertise in neurosurgery and endovascular care. His career is a reflection of the time, training, and lifelong learning that goes into becoming a neurosurgeon.

Think neurosurgeons only operate on the brain? Think again!

August is Neurosurgery Awareness Month, a great time to highlight the many conditions neurosurgeons diagnose and treat.

Neurosurgery can involve much more than the brain, including:

🔹 Brain aneurysms
🔹 Stroke & carotid artery conditions
🔹 Spine conditions & back pain
🔹 Carpal tunnel syndrome
🔹 Ulnar nerve entrapment
🔹 Nerve-related pain

From minimally invasive spine procedures to advanced endovascular treatments, today’s neurosurgery offers a variety of approaches tailored to each patient.

This Neurosurgery Awareness Month, we're raising awareness about the conditions we treat—and the advanced options available to our patients.

Back spasms can strike suddenly—and they can make even simple movements uncomfortable.

While spasms may be related to poor posture, lumbar spine conditions, or musculoskeletal concerns, gentle movement and controlled breathing may help relax tight muscles.

In our latest blog, we’re sharing 6 gentle stretches and movements that may help:

- Child’s Pose
- Cat/Cow
- Cobra Press-ups
- Sidelying Thoracic Rotation
- Supine Knee Hugs
- Supine Hamstring Stretch

Remember, if you’re experiencing frequent, severe, or persistent back spasms, it’s important to speak with your physician or a spine specialist to determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment.
