Let’s talk mammograms 💗

We know they’re not exactly something anyone looks forward to. They can be uncomfortable, and we hear concerns about radiation exposure all the time. But mammograms are still one of our best tools for finding breast cancer early — sometimes before a lump can even be felt.

Thermography may sound like an easier alternative, but it can miss cancers that a mammogram is able to detect. When it comes to breast cancer, finding it smaller and earlier can make such a difference.

And while mammograms do use a small amount of radiation, the exposure is very low and the benefit of early detection far outweighs that risk.

So don’t put off your mammogram! And if you have a family history of breast cancer, make sure your provider knows so you can decide together what screening schedule is best for you.

A few uncomfortable minutes are worth taking care of you. 🩷

🧠✨ Monday Matters: Hormones & Brain Health

Brain fog and changes in memory or focus are common concerns as women enter perimenopause and menopause—but they’re not something we should simply dismiss as part of getting older.

Hormones play an important role in brain health, alongside nutrition, vitamin status, lifestyle, medications, and family history. And as our understanding of hormone therapy continues to evolve, research is helping us better understand how appropriately timed hormone therapy may support cognitive health and potentially lower Alzheimer’s risk in some women.

The more we learn, the more empowered we can be to take a proactive approach to healthy aging. 🤍

It’s Monday Matters with Dr. Paschall 🤍

A little reminder that sometimes the symptoms we’re treating aren’t telling us the whole story.

Anxiety, low mood, irritability, changes in sleep, feeling overwhelmed or simply not feeling like yourself can have many causes — and for some women, hormones may be part of the picture.

That’s why Dr. Paschall encourages looking beyond the symptoms and considering what may be happening underneath them.

If you’ve been struggling with anxiety or depression, especially alongside other changes in how you feel, it may be worth having a conversation with your provider about your hormones.

Mental health matters — and so does looking at the whole body. 🤍

🧠 Monday Matters with Dr. Paschall

When we think about symptoms like low mood, anxiety, poor focus, or trouble sleeping, it’s easy to assume the problem starts in the brain. But what if it actually starts somewhere else?

This week, Dr. Paschall explains how neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, and GABA don’t exist in isolation. Your body relies on healthy hormone function—and the right nutritional building blocks—to produce and regulate these important chemical messengers.

That’s why we can’t treat the body as a collection of separate systems. Nutrition affects hormones. Hormones influence neurotransmitters. And neurotransmitters impact everything from mood and energy to focus, sleep, and stress resilience.

When one piece of the puzzle is missing, symptoms can show up in ways that seem unrelated. Looking at the body as a whole helps us identify the why behind those symptoms instead of just treating each one individually.

✨ True wellness starts by connecting the dots—not compartmentalizing them.

Happy **Monday Matters** with Dr. Paschall! 🦴

When we think about staying healthy as we age, we often focus on our heart, hormones, or metabolism—but our bones deserve just as much attention. The reality is that osteoporosis develops gradually, often without any warning signs until a fracture occurs.

In this week's Monday Matters, Dr. Paschall discusses why bone health should be part of your preventive care, what factors can contribute to osteoporosis, and how a DEXA scan helps us evaluate bone density before problems arise.

She also explains why vitamin D is so important for maintaining healthy bones—and why it works best alongside vitamins A and K. Bone health isn't about a single vitamin or supplement; it's about giving your body the nutrients it needs to build and maintain strong bones throughout life.

The best time to protect your bones is before they become a problem.

Have questions about your bone health or whether a DEXA scan is right for you? We'd be happy to help.

✨ Monday Matters with Dr. Paschall: Hormones & Nutrition ✨

Think of your hormones like an assembly line🏭

Your body can’t produce hormones efficiently without the right raw materials to build them. Even if you’re focused on balancing estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, or supporting your thyroid, it’s important to ask: Are you giving your body what it needs to do the job?

Some of the key nutrients that support healthy hormone production include:
• Vitamin D
• Magnesium
• Iron
• Zinc
• B Vitamins (especially methylated forms for some individuals)
• Omega-3 fatty acids

While nutrition isn’t the only piece of the hormone puzzle, it is a foundational one. Without the proper building blocks, your body has a harder time creating and regulating the hormones that affect your energy, mood, metabolism, sleep, and overall well-being.

If you’re working to optimize your hormones, don’t overlook what’s on your plate. Sometimes supporting your body starts with making sure it has the nutrients it needs to thrive.

✨ Feeling like you’re running on empty isn’t something you just have to accept.

Today, Michelle from Music City Plastic Surgery shared her experience with hormone optimization and why she decided it was time to prioritize her health. Between managing a busy practice, caring for others, and keeping up with life’s demands, she noticed her energy wasn’t what it used to be.

After reviewing her labs, we developed a personalized plan that included hormone optimization and nutritional support to help her feel her best again. Today, she’s receiving her Biote hormone pellet as part of that journey.

Every patient’s story is different, which is why we believe in looking at the full picture—not just symptoms, but the underlying factors that may be contributing to fatigue, brain fog, low motivation, and other common concerns.

Thank you, Michelle, for allowing us to be part of your wellness journey and for sharing your experience with others🤍

And while you’re here, be sure to check out Dr. Michael Burgdorf’s new book, Mommy Makeover, releasing June 23! 📖

If you’ve been wondering whether your hormones could be affecting how you feel, we’d love to help you find answers!

✨ MONDAY MATTERS ✨

A few weeks ago, we talked about the connection between low vitamin D and low testosterone. This week, Dr. Paschall takes it a step further and explains why hormones are rarely the only piece of the puzzle.

When one thing is out of balance, it often creates a domino effect throughout the body.

Low vitamin D can impact testosterone. Low testosterone can affect sleep quality. Poor sleep can increase cortisol levels. Elevated cortisol can influence insulin, metabolism, and ultimately how your body stores and burns fat.

It’s why so many people find themselves doing extreme things to lose weight—cutting calories, skipping meals, or surviving on a few pieces of celery for lunch—yet still not seeing the results they expect.

Your symptoms don’t exist in isolation. Fatigue, brain fog, mood changes, difficulty losing weight, low libido, poor sleep, and memory concerns are often connected pieces of a much bigger picture.

As Dr. Paschall explains, you can’t fully understand what’s happening by looking at just one corner of the puzzle. You have to step back and evaluate the entire picture.

If you’re experiencing three or more of these symptoms, it may be time to have a conversation with a physician and take a deeper look at your labs.

Because feeling your best starts with understanding the whole story—not just one lab value🤍

Menopause isn’t “just aging” — and you don’t have to suffer through the symptoms alone. 💛

In today’s Monday Matters, Dr. Paschall discusses some of the common symptoms women may notice during perimenopause and menopause, including:
✨ hot flashes
✨ mood changes
✨ fatigue
✨ brain fog
✨ sleep disturbances
✨ weight and metabolic changes

She also does a mini dive into the history of the 2002 Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) study, which significantly changed the conversation around hormone replacement therapy for women. Over time, experts have continued to reevaluate the study, its limitations, and the role hormone therapy may play for appropriate patients.

The conversation around menopause and hormone health is continuing to evolve, and women deserve individualized, evidence-based care when discussing their symptoms and treatment options.

If you don’t currently have a provider who specializes in hormone health, we would love the opportunity to care for you and help guide you through your options.

And don’t forget — Dr. Paschall will also be discussing hormones this week on:
🎙️ The Bobby Bones Show on Wednesday
🎙️ The Erin Oprea Podcast again this Thursday

As always, hormone therapy is not one-size-fits-all and should be discussed with your healthcare provider to determine what is safest and most appropriate for you.
