Nurture House Nurture House exists to help families in distress recapture the joy stolen by neglect, trauma, anxiety, difficult behavior, or a lack of connectedness.

Paris Goodyear-Brown is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor with 18 years of experience in treating traumatized and attachment disturbed children and families. She is an Adjunct Instructor of Psychiatric Mental Health at Vanderbilt University, guest lecturer for several universities in middle Tennessee, maintains a private practice, and has an international

reputation as a dynamic speaker and innovative clinician. With recent trainings in Morocco, Australia, and Sweden, as well as frequent domestic presentations, she is best known for developing clinically sound, played-based interventions that are used to treat a variety of childhood problems. She has received the APT award for Play Therapy Promotion and Education. She is the author of multiple books, chapters and articles related to child therapy. Her newest books include the Handbook of Child Sexual Abuse: Identification, Assessment, and Treatment, Play Therapy with Traumatized Children: A Prescriptive Approach and The Worry Wars: An Anxiety Workbook for Kids and their Helpful Adults.

💙Meet Jennifer Rubens, Ph.D., LPC-MHSP, RPT 🧡

Jennifer is passionate about helping children and families heal, grow, and thrive. With extensive experience in trauma-informed care, play therapy, grief support, and family connection, she is dedicated to creating safe, nurturing spaces where resilience and healing can flourish.

Jennifer is a Registered Play Therapist, TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) trained, EMDR certified, a Certified Creative Grief Coach, and certified in TraumaPlay. She believes that strong, connected relationships are at the heart of the healing process and is committed to empowering children through compassion, connection, and play.

In addition to her clinical work, Jennifer serves as Nurture House’s Practicum and Internship Director, mentoring and supporting the next generation of therapists.

We’re grateful for the warmth, wisdom, and care she brings to our team every day. ✨
