✨ Menopause is not a fad.
✨ Perimenopause is not “just a phase.”

For many women, this season is a profound biopsychosocial transition — impacting the body, the nervous system, identity, relationships, emotional regulation, energy levels, sleep, cognition, and overall sense of self.

So while some may say menopause is “having a moment,” those of us living through it know this is not about trends. It is about transformation.

Perimenopause and menopause often ask us to become deeply intentional. They invite us to slow down, listen inward, reevaluate boundaries, and notice how we have been caring for everyone else while sometimes abandoning ourselves in the process.

Clinically, we know hormonal shifts can influence mood, anxiety, sensory sensitivity, memory, fatigue, and stress tolerance. But beyond the science, there is also a very human experience happening underneath it all — grief, awakening, vulnerability, empowerment, exhaustion, clarity, and the longing to feel understood. 🤍

This transition does not happen in isolation. It affects our partnerships, parenting, friendships, work life, communication patterns, intimacy, and the way we show up in the world.

May you have people beside you who respond with curiosity instead of criticism.
May you have relationships where honesty about your experience is met with compassion, not dismissal. 🤍

And perhaps most importantly, may you learn to meet yourself with gentleness through the changes.

Because maybe perimenopause and menopause are not simply endings to endure…
Maybe they are invitations to return home to yourself. 🌿

To rediscover your voice.
To honor your limits.
To reconnect with your needs.
To ask yourself who and what truly belongs in this next chapter of your life.

And when you look around, may you find people willing to walk beside the most authentic version of you. ✨

Thank you Sass Magazine for the opportunity to continue to raise awareness and reach women so they understand (normalize) what is happening in midlife 💛😌

✨ Curious About Equine Therapy? ✨

Have you ever wondered what happens in an equine therapy session — and how it differs from traditional office-based therapy?

Equine-assisted therapy can be a powerful supplemental modality alongside approaches such as EMDR, somatic therapy, and nervous system-based work. 🧠🐴 Rather than relying primarily on language, equine work engages relational awareness, body-based processing, emotional regulation, and attunement.

Horses respond honestly and immediately to human nervous systems, emotional states, boundaries, and patterns of connection. Because of this, equine sessions can offer meaningful clinical insight into:
✨ Attachment patterns
✨ Emotional regulation
✨ Anxiety and overwhelm
✨ Boundary awareness
✨ Relational dynamics
✨ Presence and nervous system safety

🌿 Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) often feel especially drawn to horses because of the horse’s deep sensitivity to energy, emotion, and nonverbal communication. Horses can help HSPs better understand how they move through the world while fostering grounding, self-awareness, and regulation.

Join me for an experiential evening to learn more about equine-assisted therapy and how it may support your healing journey.

🐴 During the evening, you will have the opportunity to:
• Meet and interact with the herd
• Learn how equine therapy supports clinical work
• Ask questions in a relaxed environment
• Experience the calming and regulating presence horses can offer

There is something profoundly healing about being in the presence of an animal that meets you exactly where you are — without judgment, expectation, or words. Many people leave equine experiences with unexpected insight, greater clarity, and a deeper connection to themselves.

Equine therapy is unique in that it taps into a part of you that does not need a lot of words🤍
There is a unique communication that happens between horse and human in equine sessions🐴
These beautiful 4 legged angels are also co- regulators and just being in their presence signals calm to the nervous system.
There is no riding involved and you can stand as close or as far as you feel comfortable😌
Curious? Connect with me at rootingthroughgrief.com and I welcome any opportunity to share this work with clients 🤎
There are a couple of equine sessions remaining in May and June ☀️

The temperature is rising … we are thawing … the sun is shining and we can feel our extremities again😅☀️
This means I am able to comfortably ramp up equine therapy sessions😴🐴😍
Partnering with Horses Healing Humans, I am giddy to get back to the farm and the herd and offer equine sessions …. An experience that builds on all the hard work being done in the office🧠♥️
If you have not been in the office and are curious about equine sessions… I love to talk about the benefits.. my own experience in my personal growth and how it will be part of your deepest growth and healing ❤️‍🩹

Looking forward to sharing this modality of therapy with you and witnessing the connection with the horses and the deep personal growth that comes with them as your therapy partner.

*** all partnering is done on the ground. No horse or riding experience needed!

The theme in my office these days is “wanting to feel seen.”🤲

People are carrying a lot of pain right now whether it is globally or in their homes or in their personal shifts and transitions, I hear more and more humans just want to have their pain and experiences witnessed without judgment 😌

So many people quietly carry the ache of wanting to be seen 👀
especially by the ones they love most 💔

When we aren’t truly seen, we start to feel invisible…
irrelevant…alone, even in relationship.

Being seen isn’t about fixing or explaining yourself 🛠️
It’s about presence, softness, and care — just as you are 🤍

And sometimes, the first place that kind of seeing has to begin…
is with yourself ✨

Noticing your feelings 🌱
Honoring your needs 🫶
Offering yourself the gentleness you’re longing for 💞

You are not too much.
You are not invisible.
You are worthy of being seen 🤍✨

✨Grateful. Honored✨

When you choose to be a helper, the hope is that people trust you with their most vulnerable moments. To also be part of a community of women who intentionally create spaces for healing, relaxation, and connection is truly the added blessing.

Being featured alongside so many talented women making a difference in our community is an incredible honor. Many are women I’ve had the pleasure of receiving their talents to grow my business. Others, I’ve had the privilege to partner and collaborate with—and getting to call the cover girl my best friend not only makes me boast with pride, but allows me to celebrate an extraordinary human who shares so much wisdom.

Thank you, Kim, for creating a space where women making an impact are seen, celebrated, and connected. Grateful to have a seat at the table with this inspiring group of women.✨

🌿 Holiday Self-Care for the Highly Sensitive 🌿

The holidays can bring moments of connection and joy — but for highly sensitive personalities, they can also feel overstimulating and emotionally draining.

As a therapist who supports highly sensitive individuals, I encourage you to approach this season with intentional gentleness and mindful boundaries:

✨ Plan for pause — Schedule quiet moments between gatherings. Your nervous system needs time to recharge.
✨ Soothe your senses — Dim lighting, calming scents, soft textures, or nature can help regulate your body.
✨ Honor emotional limits — It’s okay to step away from noise, crowds, or emotionally charged conversations ( yes!! Even in the middle of a gathering!).
✨ Stay grounded — Use breathing exercises, journaling, or a mindful walk to reconnect with your center.
✨ Protect your peace — You don’t have to say “yes” to everything. Setting limits is not selfish — it’s self-care.

Remember: sensitivity is not a weakness; it’s an attunement to the world that simply needs mindful tending.
Give yourself permission to move through the holidays at your own pace. 🕯️

Very excited to share a refreshed and updated website with more comprehensive resources and additional offerings! There will also be a space to find anything that I post or share in emails!

Very proud of this… as my fellow HSP’s know… change is something we are quite slow with and this was no exception but once I trusted my “creativity” it came together.

I am a licensed psychotherapist (MD/license #11878) who specializes in grief and loss. I partner with bereaved people to help them discover how to live who ...

The struggle is real!
I wish I would have known about this during my kids toddler years- may have saved a lot of stress at getting dressed time.
Paying it forward as parents describe these struggles- and more - related to clothing, being “dirty” or many of the other “annoyances” kids express that seem so small but are completely valid for an HSC☺️

Highly sensitive children & socks are often not best friends. Whether the socks feel itchy or the seam is uncomfortable, socks are a problem.
