Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with Kristiana Poole of Be the Light, an incredible nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering survivors of domestic violence.

One thing that continues to stand out to me is that no single organization can meet every need a person has on their recovery and healing journey. It takes collaboration. It takes partnerships. It takes a community of people and organizations working together to help individuals find all the pieces of the puzzle needed to build a stable, healthy, and purpose-filled life.

I am grateful for the many community partners throughout our area who are doing the hard work every day to serve others. Whether it’s recovery support, housing, mental health services, domestic violence advocacy, employment assistance, healthcare, or basic needs, every piece matters.

Thank you, Kristiana, for taking the time to connect and share about the important work Be the Light is doing. Relationships like these strengthen our community and create more pathways for individuals and families to find hope, healing, safety, and lasting success.

Together, we can accomplish far more than any of us can alone. ❤️

We’re proud to share a major milestone for Homes Empowering Recovery.

Our first male recovery house is now officially accredited, joining our two existing female houses here in the Fredericksburg area.

This expansion allows us to serve both men and women with safe, structured, trauma-first recovery housing—meeting people exactly where they are in their journey.

What makes this even more meaningful is that we provide something unique to this region:

A structured pathway to help individuals get back on their feet with dignity, accountability, and support

Recovery doesn’t look the same for everyone—and it shouldn’t have to.

At Homes Empowering Recovery, we’re committed to being a foundation for recovery and a pathway to purpose for those ready to take the next step.

If you or someone you love needs a safe place to land, we’re here.

At Homes Empowering Recovery, we know that long-term recovery outcomes are shaped by more than treatment alone.

Recovery becomes more sustainable when people have more than a place to stay. It takes stable sober housing, trauma-first substance use disorder and mental health treatment, medical support, workforce development, and spiritual connection that restores purpose and builds financial stability, and the ability to work while continuing the recovery journey.

We also know that housing is often what makes it possible for someone to stay in treatment long enough for real change to happen. Too many people are trying to heal while moving between unstable environments or short-term models that do not support long-term recovery. We are building an ecosystem where people can come into sober living while they are in treatment and remain in a stable recovery environment for the duration of that journey.

Healing doesn’t happen alone. It takes aligned clinical, medical, workforce, and community partners who share the vision of helping people build sustainable lives after addiction.

At Homes Empowering Recovery, we are building that kind of system — one that helps people move from survival to stability, and from stability to purpose.

That is how lives change.
That is how families heal.
That is how generational impact begins.

What a special moment for Homes Empowering Recovery as we prepared last weekend to open our first men’s house.

My heart is so full of gratitude for the people who helped make this possible. Thank you for showing up, helping set things in place, giving your time, sharing your hearts, and believing in this vision. What may look like furniture, pictures on walls, and a house coming together is really so much more than that — it is the beginning of a safe place for healing, stability, accountability, and hope.

This house represents new beginnings, second chances, and the kind of support that can truly change lives. None of this happens alone, and I am deeply thankful for every person who played a part in helping us get here.

Thank you for helping us open the doors to our first men’s house.
