Just went to a home birth visit and the siblings of this upcoming baby shared their stickers with me. I have a book of stickers that I pull out at the end of visits in my office and let kids pick one. So they decided to share the same treat with me. 🥰 Love all my families. Midwifery blesses me with so many sweet moments.

He said it perfectly. Oral ties (tongue, lip, and buccal) are still massively misunderstood and underdiagnosed by virtually all pediatricians. This is a huge issue and we need to humbly work together to fix it. Pediatricians are experts in many diseases and disorders, but the issue of oral ties is not one of them. There are just a handful of doctors out there at the moment who have taken the time to obtain specialized certification to diagnose and revise oral ties. Your lactation consultant, on the other hand, IS an expert with this issue. She also knows lots of ways to help while you wait to have your appointment with a qualified pediatric dentist. If in doubt, please reach out.

Snow = my happy place! ❄️ In between prenatal visits at my office, I went for a frozen walk on a trail in town. I was slippy-slidin’ through some spots, but activated my penguin waddle mode and thankfully didn’t fall. I’m about to toss some taco soup into the crockpot, dive into a fluffy afghan, and enjoy a matcha while I work on my laptop. So many little blessings surround me. How are YOU enjoying this winter weather?

Time for fall classes! One of my favorite quotes is: “If you don’t know your options, you won’t have any.”* Would you buy a car by walking onto the lot and picking the first one you see? Or would you research different brands and pick out all the bells and whistles you want your big investment to have? You’d do the research, right?? So why do we think having a baby deserves less care? The more you learn now, the more likely you are to have the birth you dream of!

And these aren’t just for moms, a bunch of the content is designed for you, too, DAD. You might not be birthing the baby, but you can be so helpful throughout the entire process!

I teach childbirth prep classes based on the Bradley method, designed for both home and hospital birthers. My series is packed full of practical and fascinating information for pregnancy, labor/delivery, postpartum, newborn, and breastfeeding stages. Then to tie it all together, in the last class you design your unique birth plan.

This round of classes will be on Wednesdays and Fridays for three weeks, beginning on Oct 30th. We meet at 6:30pm and class is about 90 minutes, depending on amount of discussion.
