Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the United States, exceeding cancer and accidental deaths combined. It’s important to understand not only how serious CVD is, but also what it includes, what warning signs to look for, and how to help protect yourself and your loved ones.

We’re celebrating Men's Health Month by encouraging the men in our lives to prioritize their health.

A Heart Scan, or coronary calcium scan, is a CT screening used to detect coronary artery disease (CAD) by identifying plaque buildup in the arteries. Early detection can make a major difference, especially since many people under 65 with CAD may not know they are at risk until a heart attack occurs. Detecting coronary calcium early helps your medical team develop a plan to manage CAD and reduce the risk of serious heart problems.

Heart disease can sometimes go undiagnosed until a heart attack, heart failure, or arrhythmia occurs, which is why being proactive about your heart health is so important.

At Medical Imaging of Fredericksburg, our CCTA HeartFlow service provides detailed images of the coronary arteries to help identify plaque buildup and evaluate how blood is flowing to the heart. Using advanced imaging and HeartFlow analysis, this non-invasive exam gives physicians a clearer picture of your heart health so they can recommend the most appropriate next steps for your care.
