With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Glenda Wheeler on August 24, 2026 at Heritage Healthcare in Chanute Kansas. Glenda was a cherished soul who brought love and warmth to all who knew her. Born on July 30, 1946, in Erie, Kansas, Glenda was a beacon of kindness and dedication throughout her 80 years of life.

Glenda was the beloved daughter of Eugene and Betty Bernadine Yarnell and shared her early years with her siblings, the late Grace Cathey and Robbie McAlexander, as well as her surviving siblings, Linda Cawthorn, Lonnie Yarnell, and Pauline Fuller. Her roots in Erie provided her with a strong foundation of love and family values, which she carried with her throughout her life.

A proud graduate of Erie High School, Glenda embarked on a career that showcased her talents and versatility. She worked diligently at National Garment as a seamstress and later applied her skills at Hi-Lo Industries as a programmer. Her work ethic and dedication were admired by her colleagues and friends alike.

In her personal life, Glenda was a devoted mother to her surviving daughter, Shelly (Richard) Tripp. She faced the heart-wrenching loss of her son, Steven Dale Wheeler, and her grandchild, J.T. Wheeler, with remarkable strength and grace. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished her six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, nurturing each generation with love and wisdom.

Mable J. Powell, born on April 24, 1936 passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 11:22 pm, 4 months after her 90th birthday. She had not been ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband Buck who passed away on February 15, 2024, 4 months before his 90th birthday as well as six brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by
Daughter Lavonna (Pat)

Sons Buck (Stephany) and Chuck (Linda)

5 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Karen Gail Anderson, 72 of Chanute, Kansas passed away at Diversicare of Chanute on Friday, August 21, 2026. Cremation will take place under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Karen was born on August 2, 1954 in Chanute, Kansas to Foy and Juanita (Petty) Chandler. Karen attended the Chanute school system. On August 4, 1978, Karen married Denny Anderson in Miami, Oklahoma. The two were married 44 years until his passing on January 3, 2023. Karen worked at Everbrite Electronics and Kustom Signals, retiring in 2013.
Karen loved to plant flowers in her garden, she especially loved sunflowers. Karen also loved to relax and watch one of her favorite TV shows, Forensic Files. Karen also had a love for shoes and purses, but most of all she loved her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Denny, parents, Foy and Juanita Chandler, sister, Charlotte Moore, and brother, David Chandler.
Karen’s memory will carry on with her children, Angela Chandler, Francis Anderson, and Brian Anderson, sister, Debbie (Steve) Barker, three grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob Hosack passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy deeply rooted in community preservation, higher education, and devotion to his family.
Born on December 20, 1948, in Chanute, Kansas, to Robert and Welthalee Hosack, he spent his formative years in Southern California, graduating from Claremont High School in Claremont, California. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).
Following his time at UCSB, he returned to his roots in Chanute, where he worked as a postal carrier. It was during this period that his passion for local history blossomed. A steadfast advocate for historic preservation, he played pivotal roles in saving and restoring two of the area’s landmark structures: the Austin Bridge and the Santa Fe Depot. Chanute held another special significance for him during this chapter, as it was where he met the love of his life, Mira.
The couple moved to Lawrence, Kansas, while he pursued and completed his master’s degree at the University of Kansas (KU). After a brief stay back in California, they returned permanently to Chanute to raise their son, Bobby.
He dedicated his professional life to serving as a community planner, working tirelessly with towns throughout Southeast Kansas to improve local infrastructure and preserve regional character. Richard Andrew Hall, 76 passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Heritage Healthcare in Chanute, Kansas.
Richard was born on August 6, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Arthur and Laura (Haile) Hall. As a young child, Richard attended the Toronto, Kansas elementary schools, then graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1970. On August 21, 1971, Richard married Debra Myers in Toronto, Kansas. The two were married 44 years until her passing on September 5, 2015.
Richard was known as a hardworking dedicated man. He owned an operated his own oil leases for 20 plus years. He also worked 7 years at Cornish Wire Line Service and then 5 years at JV Oil. He then retired in 2020. When ever Richard had the opportunity, he loved to grab his fishing pole and sneak away to catch crappie and bass with the fishing lures he made. He was also very artistic, painting numerous paintings. He learned to paint from watching Bob Ross. He would record each episode and then reach watch it, learning to proper technique to design his masterpiece. Richard was also known for his woodworking abilities. Richard was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was a season ticket holder and never missed a game.
He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Debra, his parents, Arthur and Laura Hall, sister, Sharon Hall, and brother, Jimmy Dean Hall.

Robert Allen Adams, known to most as Bob, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at The Journey's Home in Bartlesville, OK after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 83 years old.

Bob was born on July 24, 1943, in Kansas and spent much of life rooted in the community and countryside he loved so deeply. A true steward of the land, he took great satisfaction in raising cattle, tending the homestead, and nurturing the rolling Kansas landscape that shaped him. He spent much of his adult life in Atlanta, Georgia building a company and being a loving father.

He was a financially astute investor and property owner, known for his sharp mind and steady hand in all matters of business. When he wasn't working the land or managing his holdings, Bob could be found with a good book in hand, feeding a lifelong love of reading.

Those who knew Bob would tell you he was principled, steadfast, and grounded, a man of quiet dignity and self-assurance who led by example. The proudest chapters of his life were marrying the love of his life, Willie Adams, and being a devoted father to their daughter, Lauren Adams Jones.

Guided by a lifelong and deeply committed Catholic faith, Bob was a devoted parishioner whose belief was the foundation of everything he did. He now rests in the arms of the Lord he served so faithfully.

Donna Lou Dellinger, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, Donna was born on May 20, 1937, to Ormand and Helen (Sterling) Sanborn in Caney, Kansas. Her family moved to Howard, KS when she was a young child, however while Ormand was in the Army during World War II, her and her mother returned to Caney, where she attended elementary school during his tenure in the Army. Upon his return, they returned to Howard where she graduated from Howard High School in 1955. During her High School, she worked at the local grocery store and assisted in daycare.

On April 2, 1955, Donna married Walter "Jerry" Dellinger at her parents home in Howard. After Jerry was employed at Cessna Aircraft they relocated to Wichita and later to Haysville, KS. They relocated to Haysville for their sons to attend Haysville Schools. Throughout their sons education she was actively involved in school activities and serving as Treasurer of the PTA for multiple years. Donna was always available to assist her family in every way possible.

Donna and Jerry enjoyed attending many western dances, seeing country performers, enjoyed family fishing trips and water skiing at numerous lades throughout Oklahoma and their cabin at Fall River Lake. Throughout the years Donna assisted with the efforts on the farm: including planting and harvesting. Additionally, Donna assisted in sorting and identifying/matching cattle/calves. Michael Francis Walsh, 84 of Chanute, Kansas passed at his home on Thursday, August 6, 2026. Cremation will take place under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Michael Francis Walsh was born on September 29, 1941 in Chanute, Kansas to Raymond and Helen Walsh. As a young child, Mike spent countless hours at the People Theater and Drive In helping his parents. Mike graduated from Chanute High School and then entered the United States Army. He proudly served 2 years before being honorably discharged. His time serving in the US Army gave him the skills that forged his career and life. He began working as a Code Breaker for the National Security Agency (NSA). His work allowed him to travel and see parts of the world he had only see in pictures. He spent 16 years in England and 30 plus years in Maryland. After retiring, Mike returned to school and became a golf pro. He served as the golf pro at Fort Mead in Maryland and the Country Club Golf Course in Chanute, Kansas. Through the years Mike educated countless people on the fundamentals of golf. He was a member of the Elks, the American Legion and VFW.
Mike is preceded in death by his wives, Janis Alexander, and Cynthia Lane, brothers, Patrick and Conrad Walsh and his parents, Raymond and Helen Walsh.

Max C. Beckenholdt departed this life on August 6th, at Wesley Hospital; the son of Ethel and Engel Beckenholdt. He was born on February 2, 1940. Max lived a great long life full of love, mostly at his family farm in Chautauqua County. He served a short amount of time in the military and helped his father on his pig farm. Some of his big accomplishments in life were becoming a father, grandfather, and great grandfather, starting an oil business and cattle ranching with his son and being able to pass that knowledge along. He also was a school bus driver for many years.
Max is proceeded in death by his parents Ethel and Engle Beckenholdt, his brother Rance Howard, his granddaughter Amber Beckenholdt, his grandson Justin Ware, and his wife Joan Beckenholdt. Survivors include His son Clay Beckenholdt of Howard KS and his partner Ellyse Basler, His sister Glee Eby of Wichita KS, His granddaughters Alizah Basler and her daughter Lila, Chelsea Myers and her children, and Makala Clawson and her son Brenton, His grandsons Timmy Basler and his children, and Ryan Beckenholdt and his children.
