With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Glenda Wheeler on August 24, 2026 at Heritage Healthcare in Chanute Kansas. Glenda was a cherished soul who brought love and warmth to all who knew her. Born on July 30, 1946, in Erie, Kansas, Glenda was a beacon of kindness and dedication throughout her 80 years of life.
Glenda was the beloved daughter of Eugene and Betty Bernadine Yarnell and shared her early years with her siblings, the late Grace Cathey and Robbie McAlexander, as well as her surviving siblings, Linda Cawthorn, Lonnie Yarnell, and Pauline Fuller. Her roots in Erie provided her with a strong foundation of love and family values, which she carried with her throughout her life.
A proud graduate of Erie High School, Glenda embarked on a career that showcased her talents and versatility. She worked diligently at National Garment as a seamstress and later applied her skills at Hi-Lo Industries as a programmer. Her work ethic and dedication were admired by her colleagues and friends alike.
In her personal life, Glenda was a devoted mother to her surviving daughter, Shelly (Richard) Tripp. She faced the heart-wrenching loss of her son, Steven Dale Wheeler, and her grandchild, J.T. Wheeler, with remarkable strength and grace. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished her six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, nurturing each generation with love and wisdom.
