Did you know adults age 65 and older account for more than one-third of all inpatient and outpatient surgeries performed in U.S. hospitals?

Recovery continues after discharge, and those first few hours and days at home are especially important.

In this week’s Home Care 101 Monday Minute, Emma Dickison shares tips to support a safe transition home, from mobility support and medication reminders, to meal preparation and follow-up appointments.

Professional Caregivers can help ease this transition, enabling a safer recovery for your loved one and reducing the risk of a preventable return to the hospital.

More than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s today, and for many of us, that number is personal.

We’ve seen its impact on someone we know and love – a family member, friend or colleague. Through our work at Home Helpers® Home Care, we also see the challenges faced by clients and families our network supports.

That’s why we walk. To honor those we love, stand alongside families navigating this disease, and help advance Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Thank you to everyone who is supporting the Alzheimer's Association's Walks to End Alzheimer’s across the nation.

Whether you walked, donated, or helped raise awareness, you helped bring our commitment to care into the community.

We’re grateful for your support and hopeful for a future without Alzheimer’s. 💜

This Labor Day, as we recognize the contributions of working Americans, we are also thinking about the men and women of our Armed Forces whose work continues every day, including weekends and holidays.

At Home Helpers Home Care of Freehold, serving veterans and their families is an important part of who we are. That appreciation has taken on even greater meaning this year as our President, Howard Stein, begins his service as an Honorary Commander with the 108th Wing Operations Group.

We want to offer a special Labor Day salute to the men and women of the 108th Wing, as well as service members everywhere.

Thank you for the work you do every day, the sacrifices made by you and your families, and your continued service to our country.

We are proud to serve those who have served us.

Tomorrow, on National Senior Citizens Day, we celebrate those who have spent lifetimes raising families, building careers, serving our country, volunteering, and strengthening our communities.

As they grow older, honoring them means more than saying thank you. It means listening to them, respecting their choices, helping them remain connected to their communities, and making sure they have the support they need to continue living with dignity and purpose.

Our latest Aging Well: Insights from the Care Community article looks at what we can all do to celebrate and support the seniors in our lives.

This Independence Day, as our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, we are honored to share that owner Howard Stein has been selected to serve as an Honorary Commander for the 2026–2027 term at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

This recognition is especially meaningful because serving veterans is an important part of our mission at Home Helpers Home Care. Every day, we have the privilege of caring for veterans in the place they most want to be, their homes, helping them remain safe, independent, and connected to their families and communities.

Howard has shared with us that he looks forward to building relationships with military leadership, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges facing today's service members and their families, and continuing to strengthen our commitment to those who have served our country.

On this Fourth of July, we celebrate our nation's history while honoring the men and women whose service continues to protect the freedoms we enjoy.

From all of us at Home Helpers Home Care, Happy Independence Day, and thank you to every veteran and active duty service member for your service.

Are the memory changes you are noticing part of normal aging, or is something more happening?

That is one of the most difficult questions many families face.

During Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, our latest article discusses the early signs of cognitive decline and why support matters.

Many families are also unaware that the Medicare GUIDE program may provide respite support and caregiver assistance at no out-of-pocket cost for qualifying families with Medicare.

If you are caring for a loved one experiencing memory changes, this may be an important resource to understand.

A mother’s love is never defined by a mountain of tasks. It is seen in the years of care, sacrifice, encouragement, and support that help a family grow and thrive. For many families, one of the most difficult transitions comes when Mom begins to need support herself.

In our latest article, we discuss how families can better navigate this change and why having structure and support in place matters.
