We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Benn Sah, MD, a member of the Washington Township Health Care District Board of Directors for 13 years.

Dr. Sah was an instrumental leader in our health system for nearly fifty years. He joined our medical staff in 1973, providing otolaryngology care to our community, and held many leadership roles, including Chief of Staff. He also served on the Washington Township Health Care District Board of Directors and Washington Township Hospital Development Corporation (DEVCO) Board. As a member of both boards, Dr. Sah provided oversight to important programs to meet the health needs of our community.

His wife, Eva served on the Washington Health Service League for more than 50 years, volunteering in several roles and attending many fundraisers with her husband, including co-chairing the Top Hat Gala. Eva passed away last September.

They are survived by three children: Stephanie, Catherine, and Alexander, who serves as the co-medical director of the IJRR at Washington Health.

Keeping with the Sah’s example of dedication to our health system, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dr. Benn and Eva Sah Memorial Fund for Staff and Volunteer Excellence: https://host.nxt.blackbaud.com/adaptive-donor-form/?formId=7600918d-1c0e-4b0f-aaa8-073ba356b9a2&envid=p-Ql3J93ePiUKUEeXfBySKHA&zone=usa&utm_source=qr_code

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, and Tri-City residents now have access to advanced lung cancer technology close to home at Washington Health. Thoracic and general surgeon Dr. Jennifer Chan uses the Ion endoluminal system - acquired last fall through funds raised by the Washington Health Foundation - and the da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system. These advanced tools help diagnose and remove lung cancer through a minimally invasive approach, often before it has a chance to spread. For patients, that can mean earlier answers, less pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery.

Congratulations to orthopedic surgeon Dr. Alexander Sah, medical co-director of the Institute for Joint Restoration & Research and medical director of the Outpatient Arthroplasty Program at Washington Outpatient Surgery Center, who has been named one of the five leaders in outpatient joint replacement surgery by Becker’s Healthcare.

He is also recognized by Becker’s for his leadership in advancing outpatient joint replacement in an ambulatory surgery center setting, where his team is using robotic technology and AI-assisted imaging to support precision and efficiency.

Dr. Sah continually advances best practices, including minimally invasive procedures that benefit patients with care designed to reduce pain, support faster rehabilitation, and make it possible to recover sooner and safely at home. Congratulations Dr. Sah!

Following total knee replacement surgery with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Bryant Bonner, Renee Garcia is back on her feet as a breakfast cook at Washington Health. Using cementless, press-fit knee replacement technology designed for increased stability and longer-lasting, more active results, Dr. Bonner helped Renee regain the freedom she thought she had lost, and return to serving guests with a smile that says it all.

“The way Dr. Bonner explained everything to me, the time he took with me, being able to email him questions, he and his staff took really, really good care of me,” Renee said. “He reached out right after surgery to make sure I was OK. He also took the time to explain everything to my parents. People come from all over just to see him, and it makes me proud that I’m one of his patients.”
