Today is National Women Chiropractors Day!

I remember when I was a chiropractic student, and many people asked why I was picking a “male profession”. Luckily, I had wonderful female role models to show me that we could do the job too! (Shoutout to Drs. Bob Kilroy, Trina Stacey, and Jody Forrester!)

I love my job, and I commend all my female colleagues who are tirelessly working to promote health and wellness!

We are on Day ?? of NO AC in our building 🥵 …. But a thoughtful patient saw how we were melting and came back to deliver personal fans to all of us (including my neck fan)!

While we wait for maintenance to fix the broken HVAC system, we appreciate everyone’s patience with the loud fans blowing in the office! 💨

We are still working and smiling so far! 😅

Just wanted to share that I completed my 450th OT workout last week. 💪🏼

I only go twice a week, but I feel so much stronger and more energetic than I did 5 years ago! I used to be really diligent about working out at home, but after COVID, I lost motivation.

Find what works for you, your interests, and your schedule. Remember, you need resistance training for bone health, aerobic exercise for heart health, and stretching for joint health/flexibility.

SPONDYLOLISTHESIS 🩻

Spondylolisthesis is a spinal condition where one vertebra slips forward over the vertebra directly below it, often causing nerve compression or lower back pain.

There are 4 grades with slippage separated into 4 distinct quarters. Grade 3 and 4 represent more than 50% slippage and be considered unstable (requiring urgent intervention).

However, Grade 1-2 can still be managed conservatively and the progress slowed down with regular maintenance. Chiropractic care can help decrease compression, improve joint movement, and reduce inflammation in the back.

Remember that we all go through degenerative changes as we age. But it’s how we take care of our bodies that determine if we live with pain or not!

“Why do I have BACK PAIN?”

Most of us sit like a shrimp. 🦐

The hunching and slouching posture puts tremendous stress onto our necks and backs.

In order to counteract these repetitive forces, think about doing exercises that are opposite - such as back extensions.

Your body will thank you! 😊
