Pawsitive Counseling Center - Dr. Thompson-Rottier, LPC Providing counseling services to adults, children, and adolescents I am specifically trained to work with abused and neglected children.

Dr. Mary Rottier:
I am a licensed counselor and registered play therapist supervisor with over 20 years of clinical experience in a variety of different settings. I work with all ages, but specialize in the counseling needs of infants, preschoolers, and adolescents. My specialty areas include diagnosing and treating ADHD, anxiety, eating disorders, attachment, and trauma. As a counselor, I strive to create a safe environment conducive to producing change and growth. I see children as having the ability to use play as a means to communicate their needs, fears, and psychological issues. The value of play in child counseling is the cornerstone to my approach as well as the use of therapy dogs in psychotherapy. Kelly Jewell:
I am an avid gardener and enjoys working with clients in “dirt therapy.” I believe that the somatic, emotional, physical wellbeing is connected and is able to be therapeutic in processing trauma and other emotional hurts in all ages. I have experience working with people who struggle with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, and more. I love to encourage patients to work with their hands, whether it be painting, drawing, or working in the sand; I believe in the power of art in therapy. Christina Bitson:
I believe in the resilient spirit and innate ability of all individuals to live wholeheartedly. By providing individual and family counseling services to youth, I hope to empower each client to achieve self-compassion, connection, resiliency, and meaning. I am working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist and someday hopes to integrate my passions for play, art, animals and the beauty of nature into my therapeutic practices.

ATTENTION STATESBORO!
We are proud to introduce our new counselor Emily McNatt! Emily is a post-master’s counselor who is dedicated to helping adolescents and adults through some of life’s challenging times. Emily brings with her years of mentoring adults and facilitating psychosocial rehabilitation. She brings a sense of curiosity, warmth, and genuineness to each session. Emily takes an existential approach to counseling with bringing in techniques from other frameworks and creative interventions to explore growth and change.

She is currently taking on new patients in our Statesboro office, ages 14 and up. She is able to bill for Blue Cross Blue Shield and Anthem, otherwise she does offer a cash rate. Give our Michigan office a call to be scheduled with Emily! 231-923-8568

📢 Support Our Mental Health Providers & Patients! 💙

A protest is taking place to advocate against the Blue Cross Blue Shield policy change that will prevent Limited Licensed Providers from seeing patients. Help us stand up and fight to protect access to mental health care for patients who rely on Limited Licensed mental health providers.

Many patients have established trusting, therapeutic relationships with their counselors. Changes that prevent Limited Licensed providers from continuing to see these patients could create unnecessary disruptions in care, longer wait times, and difficulty finding another qualified provider.

💙 Patients deserve continuity of care.
💙 Providers deserve the ability to continue serving the patients they have worked so hard to support.
💙 Mental health care should remain accessible to those who need it.

We encourage Blue Cross Blue Shield members, mental health providers, and community members to learn more, speak up, and support efforts to ensure that patients can continue receiving the care they need from the providers they trust.

Your voice matters. Our patients matter. Access to mental health care matters. 💙

It is National Georgia Day, so today we would like to do a shout-out to our Georgia office! Dr. Rottier opened Pawsitive Counseling Center in Statesboro, GA in 2002. Even after moving to Michigan, she kept the doors open in Statesboro in the hands of a wonderful team of counselors.
We’re so grateful for the amazing team at our Georgia location! Your dedication, positivity, and commitment to the people you serve make such a difference. Thank you for all that you do and for being such a wonderful part of our team!
