A new toy joined the therapy room! 💕

The Fat Brain Toys Flippity may look like simple fun, but it gives babies and little ones opportunities to work on so many developing skills through PLAY.

✨ Reaching and grasping
✨ Hand-eye coordination
✨ Using both hands together
✨ Cause-and-effect learning
✨ Fine motor exploration
✨ Attention and curiosity

I’m always looking for toys that invite a child to move, explore, problem-solve and engage—without needing lots of bells and whistles.

Because some of the best developmental work happens when a child simply thinks they’re playing. 💗

A little humble brag… 💜

This is what happens when a pediatric OT and her 14-year-old grandson decide to take on a pretty ambitious project together. 😊

We 3D printed and built this mobility trainer piece by piece — lots of printing, troubleshooting, assembling, problem-solving…and definitely some teamwork along the way.

I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, but even more proud that I got to build it with my grandson. 💕

And of course, we had to bring in our first very willing test driver. 🐶😂

That’s the kind of love and grit we bring to our work Playful Heart Pediatric OT

Pretty cool what a 3D printer, a determined OT, and a very talented 14-year-old can accomplish together. 💜

Tummy time doesn’t have to mean putting your baby on the floor and hoping they tolerate it. 💗

In a private TummyTime! Method™ session, I teach parents a gentle, playful approach to tummy time developed by Michelle Emanuel, OTR/L—individualized to your baby and what they’re showing us.

TummyTime! Method™ may help support:

✨ Comfort and confidence in tummy time
✨ Head lifting and head-turning symmetry
✨ Development of head, neck and trunk strength
✨ Early movement and motor development
✨ Body awareness and exploration
✨ Regulation and connection between baby and caregiver
✨ More positive experiences with floor play

And just as importantly, I’ll help you learn how to read your baby’s cues, recognize when they need a break, and find ways to incorporate tummy time into everyday play without forcing it.

Private sessions are especially helpful if your baby has a head-turning preference, tends to arch or extend, has difficulty getting comfortable on their tummy, or you simply want to learn how to get started.

✨ Excited to add SOFFI® certification to my feeding toolbox! ✨

I’m always looking for ways to deepen my knowledge and provide thoughtful, evidence-informed support to the babies and families I work with.

SOFFI® — Supporting Oral Feeding in Fragile Infants — provides a systematic, infant-led approach to feeding that focuses on reading a baby’s cues, supporting physiologic stability, and helping feeding remain safe, comfortable, and positive.

This additional training will help me further support families with:

🍼 Breast and bottle feeding challenges
👶 Suck-swallow-breathe coordination
💗 Recognizing and responding to an infant’s feeding cues
🍼 Improving feeding efficiency while reducing stress and fatigue
👶 Individualizing positioning, pacing, and flow based on each baby’s needs
💗 Supporting positive feeding experiences for both baby and caregiver

Feeding is about so much more than ounces. My goal is to help babies develop the skills they need while helping parents feel confident understanding and responding to their baby.

I’m excited to bring what I’ve learned through SOFFI® into my work at Playful Heart Pediatric OT. 💗
