His presentation, “Based on Current Evidence, Why Should I Be Offering Myopia Control to My Patients?”, will explore the latest evidence surrounding myopia control and its role in pediatric eye care.

From observation to improved alignment! 👀✨

Andrea was first diagnosed with a small inward eye deviation, or acquired esotropia, at age 7. By age 11, the misalignment had progressed and become constant.

She underwent strabismus surgery in under an hour and recovered smoothly. Her postoperative photos show straight, natural-looking eyes when looking ahead. 💙 Continued follow-up helps monitor alignment over time, as recurrence is possible.

So, what can be done about adult strabismus? 💭 Dr. Lichtenstein explains that there are multiple ways to address eye misalignment, and depending on the underlying problem, surgery may not always be the right answer.

When surgery is recommended, it’s typically a same-day procedure, with patients going home just a few hours later. No eye patch and no eye drops are needed, and the vast majority of patients experience immediate improvement in their symptoms. 🙌

Did you know some adults can develop strabismus later in life? 🤔 Some adults develop eye misalignment later in life, while others may have had intermittent strabismus for years that eventually becomes more noticeable or starts to bother them.

Dr. Lichtenstein also explains how vascular problems and, in very rare cases, tumors can cause the eyes to become misaligned.
