Seeing sudden flashes of light or new floaters in your vision? Don't ignore them.

Floaters are those tiny spots, squiggly lines, or cobweb-like shapes that seem to drift across your vision. Flashes may look like brief streaks of light, even when nothing is actually flashing around you.

While floaters can be a normal part of aging, a sudden increase in floaters or new flashes of light can sometimes signal a retinal tear or detachment. This happens when the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of your eye, develops a tear or begins pulling away from its normal position.

Why does this matter? Retinal detachment can cause permanent vision loss if left untreated, making early detection extremely important.

New glasses won't stop keratoconus from progressing, but corneal cross-linking may help. 👇

Keratoconus is an eye condition that causes the cornea to gradually thin and bulge into a cone-like shape, leading to blurry or distorted vision, frequent prescription changes, and increased sensitivity to light.

While glasses and contacts can help correct your vision, they don't address the underlying changes happening to your cornea.

That's where corneal collagen cross-linking comes in!

This treatment uses vitamin B2 (riboflavin) eye drops and controlled UV light to strengthen the collagen fibers in your cornea, helping slow or stop keratoconus from progressing. Unlike traditional vision correction procedures, the goal of cross-linking isn't to eliminate glasses or contacts. It's to help preserve the vision you have and prevent further deterioration.

The earlier keratoconus is detected, the sooner treatment can be considered to help protect your long-term eye health.

Did you know your eyelids could actually be affecting your vision?

As we age, the skin around our eyes naturally loses elasticity. For some people, excess upper eyelid skin can begin to droop over their lashes, making it harder to see clearly, especially when looking up or to the sides.

Blepharoplasty is a procedure that removes excess skin and, when appropriate, fat from the eyelids. While it's often associated with cosmetic improvements, it can also have important functional benefits.

For patients with significant upper eyelid drooping, blepharoplasty may help:

Think blurry vision is just a normal part of getting older? It could be cataracts. 👀

Cataracts develop when the natural lens inside your eye becomes cloudy, making it harder to see clearly. You might notice faded colors, increased glare from headlights, or difficulty seeing at night.

The good news? Cataracts are treatable.

Does it hurt? How long am I actually in the procedure room? Am I going to need a week off work?

Waiting until you notice glaucoma symptoms may mean waiting too long.

Glaucoma can damage the optic nerve gradually, often without pain or noticeable vision changes in its early stages. That’s why managing eye pressure is such an important part of protecting your vision.

One newer option is Direct Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (DSLT). This non-contact laser treatment targets the eye’s natural drainage system through the outer surface of the eye, with the goal of improving fluid drainage and lowering eye pressure. The procedure is automated and typically takes just a few seconds per eye.
