Maria Tucker exemplifies what trust between a physician and a patient can do to help improve health. On several occasions she was labeled as a “closet drinker” because of her blood test results. Her liver enzymes where elevated like that of an alcoholic! My Nurse Practitioner student and I believed her and did additional testing that showed that her intestines are fermenting alcohol 🍺! Mrs. Tucker tested positive for a yeast known as Saccharomyces Cerevisiae! (sounds like🍺 cerveza) With these lab results, we where able to adequately treat her intestinal infection!
