⭐ Visiting your loved one in assisted living should feel like love. Not obligation.
And the honest answer is there is no perfect number of visits. But here is what we have learned from walking alongside hundreds of families through this season.
Quality matters more than frequency.
A visit that is rushed, guilt driven, or emotionally draining for both of you is not serving anyone well. A visit that is present, warm, and genuinely connected means everything.
Here are a few things that actually help:
1️⃣ Set a realistic schedule and stick to it. Consistency gives your loved one something to look forward to. Even once a week done with full presence is powerful.
2️⃣ Let go of the guilt driven visit. Showing up because you feel guilty instead of because you are ready often leads to emotional visits that leave everyone feeling worse. Give yourself grace.
3️⃣ Find your rhythm. Some families do short visits several times a week. Others do longer visits on weekends. Neither is wrong. What matters is that you show up in a way that feels sustainable for you.
4️⃣ Trust the team in between. That is what we are here for. When you cannot be there we are. And we take that responsibility seriously.
5️⃣ Take care of yourself too. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Your wellbeing matters just as much as your loved one's.
