But here’s the thing: a screening colonoscopy can find precancerous polyps and remove them before they have a chance to become cancer. It can also detect colorectal cancer early, when treatment is often more successful.

And the wild part? You may feel completely fine.

That’s exactly why screening matters.

For people at average risk, colorectal cancer screening generally starts at age 45. Depending on your personal or family history, your provider may recommend starting sooner or screening more frequently.

Your Medicare benefits aren’t just about treating you when you’re sick. Medicare also covers important preventive care to help you stay healthy and catch potential health concerns early.

👋 Welcome to Medicare Visit
New to Medicare? During your first 12 months of Part B, you may be eligible for a one-time Welcome to Medicare preventive visit. It’s a great opportunity to talk with your primary care provider about your health, medical history, medications, preventive screenings, and ways to stay healthy.

📅 Yearly Wellness Visit
After you’ve had Part B for more than 12 months, Medicare covers a Yearly Wellness Visit. This visit gives you and your provider a chance to review your health, discuss your risk factors, update your prevention plan, and make sure you’re staying up to date on recommended preventive services.
