Thunderstorms can trigger asthma—and it’s not just the weather 🌩️

During a storm, pollen gets swept up into the clouds, absorbs moisture, and bursts into tiny particles. These fragments are small enough to travel deep into the lungs, which can trigger sudden asthma symptoms—even in people who usually just have seasonal allergies.

This is called thunderstorm asthma.

If you’re at risk:
• Stay indoors with windows closed during storms
• Avoid outdoor activity right before and during rainfall
• Keep your rescue inhaler nearby
• Stay consistent with your controller medications

Your lungs don’t just react to seasons—they react to storms too.

🐝 Spring is in the air — flowers are blooming, bees are buzzing, and nature is coming back to life! 🌸🌼

But for some people, a bee, wasp, or hornet sting can be more than just painful — it can trigger a serious allergic reaction.

If you’ve ever had symptoms like hives, swelling, trouble breathing, or dizziness after a sting, you may have a venom allergy. The good news? Effective treatment is available.

At US Allergy & Asthma, we offer venom immunotherapy (allergy shots for stinging insects) — a highly effective treatment that helps your immune system build tolerance to bee, wasp, hornet, yellow jacket and fire ant venom.

✅ Reduces risk of severe reactions
✅ Provides long-term protection
✅ Helps patients feel confident outdoors again

So go ahead — enjoy the sunshine, flowers, and buzzing bees 🌷🐝. If you’re concerned about sting allergies, we’re here to help.

February 28th is -

💜 Rare Disease Day 💜

In the United States, a rare disease is defined as a condition affecting fewer than 200,000 people nationwide.

While asthma and allergies are common, many of the immune disorders we treat at US Allergy & Asthma meet this definition of rare — including primary immunodeficiencies, Hereditary angioedema, Systemic mastocytosis, complement deficiencies, and other inborn errors of immunity.

Individually rare.
Collectively, they affect millions.

We raise awareness, advocate for earlier diagnosis, and support continued research — because rare should never mean overlooked. 💜
