🎓✨ Celebrating Vicki’s Speech Therapy Graduation! ✨🎓

Today we’re celebrating Vicki and her successful graduation from speech therapy! 💙

Throughout skilled speech therapy, Vicki worked on functional communication with an emphasis on higher-level expressive language and cognitive-linguistic skills. Treatment focused on functional problem solving and sequencing to help her communicate and participate as independently as possible within her daily routines and familiar environments.

Vicki also worked on functional speech intelligibility, learning strategies to support effective communication with familiar communication partners. 🗣️

Over the course of treatment, Vicki demonstrated meaningful progress and mastery of her targeted speech and communication goals. Discharge preparation focused on supporting continued carryover of these established skills within her current living environment and daily routines.

A special thank you to Debbie, Vicki’s speech therapist, for her dedication, encouragement, and skilled support throughout Vicki’s therapy journey. 💙 Your commitment helped Vicki build confidence, strengthen her communication skills, and reach this important milestone!

Gratitude in Action 💙

Sometimes the smallest gestures make the biggest impact.

Our amazing clients at Building Bridges recently put their creativity and social skills into action by making handmade greeting cards for one of our therapists. Each adult individually presented their card, practicing how to express gratitude and share their appreciation for the therapist who supports them—whether through direct help, supporting a friend, or simply creating moments of fun and connection along the way.

These cards represent so much more than a thank-you. They showcase the creativity of our therapists, the relationships they build, and the meaningful skills our clients are developing every day.

At Building Bridges, we believe our impact extends far beyond the individual client. Through connection, kindness, creativity, and community, our clients are making a difference in the lives of the people around them, too. 💙

📍 Current Opportunities:

Frisco Clinic: 1 full-time PT or PTA
Carrollton: 1 part-time PT or PTA
Denton: 1 part-time PT or PTA
Frisco Clinic: 25–30 hours/week COTA or OT
💡 We’re flexible! These needs don't necessarily have to be filled by four separate people. We are open to creative scheduling and having one person cover multiple needs or multiple clinicians share the hours, depending on availability and what works best for everyone.

💙 From Frustration to Finding Her Voice: Jessie’s Journey at Building Bridges 💙

For the past 18 months, Jessie has been receiving Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapy at Building Bridges Therapy Center—and the transformation has been nothing short of incredible. 🥹✨

Recently, Jessie’s mom shared two videos with us. The first showed Jessie before beginning therapy at Building Bridges, crying out of frustration because she was struggling to express herself and communicate what she needed.

Then came the second video: Jessie singing. 🎶💙

As her mom shared the videos and talked about how far Jessie has come, she had tears in her eyes. These weren’t just videos—they were a glimpse into the life-changing progress she has witnessed in her daughter.

Today, Jessie is happier. She has made friends. She expresses herself. She is trying to do things on her own. She is finding her voice, building confidence, and discovering what she can do. 🌟

That’s why we do what we do. ❤️

Every new word.
Every new skill.
Every attempt at independence.
Every friendship.
Every song.

They all matter.

We are so proud of Jessie and incredibly grateful to her mom for allowing us to be part of their journey and for sharing this beautiful reminder of what is possible when someone is given the right support, encouragement, and people cheering them on every step of the way.

🌊✨ Celebrating an incredible milestone! ✨🌊

Success is built one step at a time, and Jon recently achieved something truly amazing during a family trip to the Florida beaches!

For the very first time, Jon walked independently through the soft white sand—a goal that once seemed out of reach. At Pensacola Beach, he stepped down an 18–24" seawall and walked to the family's beach setup. Then, at Fort Walton Beach, he walked down a 30-foot beach access ramp and another 40 feet through the soft sand to the pop-up shelter.

These moments may seem simple to some, but they represent years of determination, perseverance, and hard work.

His mom shared:
"We have never been able to get him to walk in the sand until this trip. We owe this huge accomplishment to the work that Louisa and Erica and Jon have done the past two years and I cannot be more thankful to them both and to you for having such a great team."

We couldn't be prouder of Jon for his dedication and resilience! A heartfelt thank you to our incredible therapists, Louisa and Erica, for their commitment and expertise, and to Jon's family for their unwavering encouragement every step of the way.

Congratulations, Jon! We can't wait to see where your next steps take you. 💙👏

On July 10, Megan will teach Practical Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Assessment Strategies, a live webinar designed to help SLPs approach AAC assessment with more clarity, confidence, and practical tools.
