Prevention is Better Than Treatment
New research published in JAMA highlights how the 2026 Dyslipidemia Guidelines could expand the use of statin therapy to help prevent heart attacks and strokes before they happen.
Many people with elevated cardiovascular risk may benefit from earlier treatment, even if they feel healthy today.

- Heart Risk Score
A simple screening today could help protect your heart for years to come.

The 2026 guideline expands primary prevention eligibility in the US to include more than half of adults aged 30-79 years, including patients with and elevated lifetime risk.

This represents a substantial policy shift toward early intervention for individuals at lower short-term, but elevated lifetime risk.

Despite lower mean 10-year risk among newly eligible groups, the guideline continues strong recommendations for statin use in older and higher-risk adults, emphasizing individualized risk discussion and lifestyle counseling.

Salmonella Alert: Dietary Supplements Containing Moringa, FDA Warning.

FDA is advising consumers not to eat, sell, or distribute recalled moringa powder dietary supplements sold under the Tnvitamins, Doctor’s Pride, and Mogo brands due to possible Salmonella contamination.

FDA has issued advisories for two Salmonella outbreaks linked to products containing moringa leaf powder.

Rather than relying on lifestyle changes alone (which typically result in ~5–8% weight loss), newer incretin-based therapies like semaglutide and tirzepatide are demonstrating substantially greater weight reduction, around 15–20%, along with meaningful improvements in metabolic health.

The key takeaway: obesity is a chronic disease that often requires more than traditional counseling on diet and exercise. Combining behavioral strategies with evidence-based pharmacotherapy may offer patients better outcomes and a more sustainable path forward.
