β οΈ Medial epicondylitis (Golferβs elbow) is NOT just simple elbow pain β it is a progressive tendon overload injury
π₯ It develops from repetitive stress on the forearm flexor and pronator muscles attached to the medial elbow
𦴠The most affected area is where the pronator teres and flexor carpi radialis tendons attach
β This condition is commonly seen in sports and activities involving repetitive gripping and wrist flexion
β‘ High-risk activities include:
β’ Golf swings
β’ Throwing sports
β’ Racquet sports
β’ Bowling and archery
β’ Heavy weight lifting
π¨ Symptoms often start mild but gradually worsen over time:
β’ Pain on inner side of elbow
β’ Weak grip strength
β’ Pain during lifting or gripping objects
β’ Discomfort while wrist flexion
π₯ These muscles also act as secondary stabilizers of the elbow joint β so injury can affect joint stability over time
π§ Early intervention is critical to prevent chronic tendon degeneration
β οΈ Ignoring early pain can lead to long-term weakness and persistent elbow dysfunction
