We dedicate our practice to providing advanced Gonstead chiropractic care and spinal decompression, specializing in relieving the discomfort and pain associated with herniated discs. Located in the heart of Frisco, our wellness center adopts a comprehensive approach to spinal health, rooted in the precision and effectiveness of the Gonstead technique. Unlike conventional chiropractic practices, we employ targeted and precise adjustments using the Gonstead methodology to address specific issues like herniated discs effectively. Herniated discs can severely affect your quality of life, causing pain, weakness, or numbness in your arms or legs. Our precision in Gonstead chiropractic, combined with our expertise in spinal decompression, can provide you with significant relief from these symptoms. Spinal decompression therapy involves stretching the spine using a traction table or similar device to relieve back or leg pain. When combined with Gonstead chiropractic, these treatments can reduce pressure on the spinal discs - the gel-like cushions between your bones in your spine - enabling herniated or bulging discs to retract and take the pressure off nerves and other structures in your spine. At Venn Chiropractic and Wellness Center, our goal is to ensure you receive the care you need for a healthier spine and a better quality of life. Our unique value proposition lies in our commitment to precise, personalized chiropractic care, using Gonstead techniques, and our holistic approach to wellness, which includes spinal decompression therapy. **Why does your neck hurt when you wake up?**

Do you wake up with a stiff, sore neck that takes a while to loosen up?

Your sleeping position or pillow may be contributing, but when morning neck pain keeps returning, there may be more going on.

Common contributors include:

✔️ Sleeping positions that strain the neck

✔️ Tight or irritated neck muscles
✔️ Restricted movement in the cervical spine
✔️ Underlying joint or disc problems

**Why does your lower back pain keep coming back?**

Does your back feel better for a few days or weeks, only for the same pain to return?

Recurring lower back pain can be frustrating, especially when you aren't sure what's causing it.

Several different problems may contribute to recurring symptoms:

✔️ Herniated or bulging discs
✔️ Irritated or restricted spinal joints
✔️ Muscle strains or repetitive stress
✔️ Spinal nerve irritation
✔️ Degenerative changes in the lower back

Sometimes more than one factor is involved.

At **Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas**, we believe understanding your condition is an important part of developing an effective treatment plan.

Dr. Jason Venn has served Frisco since 2000, specializing in the **Gonstead Chiropractic Technique** and individualized care for patients with back pain, sciatica, and complex spinal problems.

Depending on your examination findings, treatment may include specific Gonstead chiropractic adjustments, corrective rehabilitation, and, when appropriate, non-surgical spinal decompression.

**If your lower back pain keeps returning, the first step is finding out what's contributing to it.**

Most people never think about how their body is positioned while they sleep. If you wake up with a stiff neck, a nagging ache in your lower back, or a hand that feels numb before you’re even out of bed, the position you sleep in might be working against your spine every night without you realizing...

Have a herniated disc and wondering what you should actually be doing at home?
Should you rest or keep moving? Is walking good? What about stretching, working out, sitting at your desk, sleeping positions, heat or ice?
There isn't one answer that works for everyone. What matters is how your back—and especially any nerve-related symptoms—responds to those activities.
We put together a new guide covering what may help, what can aggravate symptoms, and which changes may mean it's time to have the problem evaluated.
Herniated Disc at Home: What Helps—and What Can Make It Worse?

Why do we take X-rays before some chiropractic adjustments?
At Venn Chiropractic, an X-ray isn't simply about finding the spot that hurts.
When imaging is clinically appropriate, digital X-rays can give us additional information about the structure of your spine that we can't get from the physical examination alone.
They may help us evaluate:
✔️ Vertebral alignment and spinal structure
✔️ Disc-space narrowing and degenerative changes
✔️ Spinal curves
✔️ Arthritis or bone spurs
✔️ Previous injuries or structural changes
✔️ Other findings that may affect how—and whether—we adjust a particular area
This is particularly relevant to the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique.
Gonstead care emphasizes a detailed analysis of the patient before determining where a specific adjustment may be appropriate. Your history, examination, palpation, instrumentation, and—when clinically indicated—X-rays all provide pieces of that picture.
But not every patient automatically needs X-rays.
At Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas, imaging is used when appropriate based on the individual patient and clinical findings.
After more than 25 years of caring for patients in Frisco, our philosophy remains pretty simple:
Get the information first. Understand the problem. Then determine the appropriate care.

Does your leg ever suddenly feel weak—or like it might give out?
It's easy to assume the problem must be in the leg itself. But sometimes weakness, heaviness, or a leg that unexpectedly gives way may involve irritation of a nerve in the lower spine—even when there is little or no back pain.
In our newest article, Dr. Venn explains what different types of leg weakness can mean, clues that may suggest nerve involvement, and which warning signs shouldn't be ignored.

Have a herniated or bulging disc and looking for non-surgical options?
For some patients with disc-related back or neck problems, non-surgical spinal decompression may be one conservative treatment option worth considering.
Spinal decompression uses a specialized table to apply controlled distraction to targeted areas of the spine. Depending on the diagnosis and individual patient, it may be incorporated into care for conditions such as:
✔️ Herniated discs
✔️ Bulging discs
✔️ Sciatica and certain nerve-related symptoms
✔️ Degenerative disc problems
✔️ Some cases of spinal stenosis
But here's the important part:
Not everyone with back pain—or even a disc problem—is automatically a candidate for decompression.
At Venn Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Frisco, Texas, we begin with an evaluation to better understand what's causing your symptoms and whether spinal decompression is appropriate for your particular condition.
When indicated, decompression may be combined with the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique and corrective rehabilitation as part of an individualized treatment plan.
If you've been told you have a disc problem and want to understand what conservative options may be available, the first step is determining what's actually happening in your spine.

Propping a child on one hip while you cook dinner, answer the door, or just walk across a room, is one of the most natural movements a parent or caregiver makes. But that same natural habit, repeated day after day, can eventually reshape how your spine and hips carry your own weight.
