Congratulations to Maggie Leyva, RN, Obstetrics, on receiving the DAISY Award, which honors nurses who provide extraordinary clinical care and compassion to patients and families.

Nominated by a patient she cared for during both of her postpartum stays, Maggie was recognized for her compassion, clinical expertise and ability to make families feel safe, supported and understood during some of life's most important moments. Her patient described her as "a true beacon of knowledge" who leads with empathy and reassurance every step of the way.

We are fortunate to have Maggie caring for our patients and families and proud to recognize her with this well-deserved honor.

Each September, Providence ministries remember Blessed Émilie Gamelin, foundress of the Sisters of Providence. Through her ministry, The Table of the King, she welcomed people in need with dignity, compassion and a warm meal.

By offering a simple meal of soup and bread to all who entered Providence St. Jude, we honor a legacy that continues to shape our ministry today: a strong commitment to serve all, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

When retired LAPD Lieutenant Gil Carrillo faced a life-threatening brain condition, a multidisciplinary team at Providence St. Jude mobilized quickly to deliver the advanced care he needed. From diagnosis through emergency surgery and recovery, highly skilled caregivers worked together to achieve an extraordinary outcome.

Watch Gil's story and hear from Bowen Jiang, MD about the collaboration, expertise and innovation that drive care at Providence St. Jude. It's the kind of coordinated, high-quality care that has earned national recognition but more importantly, saves lives.

Today, we’re celebrating a milestone moment for Providence and the communities we serve.

Phil and Penny Knight have committed $1.1 billion to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and Providence Heart Institute — one of the largest healthcare gifts in U.S. history.

Transforming care through philanthropy, this historic gift will help create Oregon’s first hospital dedicated to women’s health, advance heart care and expand support for patients and families across the region.

We are deeply grateful for the Knights’ generosity and belief in Providence’s Mission. Together, this gift will help shape the future of care in Oregon and across the Pacific Northwest for generations.

Fifteen years ago, a call went out for NICU nurses. The opportunity intrigued Liberty Rivera, but caring for the tiniest and most fragile patients felt intimidating. Today, she calls it one of the best decisions she's ever made.

"The NICU was my fit. I love being part of the lives of these families. It's so gratifying when a parent reaches out years later, saying I was there when their child was born."

Chloe is cancer-free! 🎉

At just 15 years old, Chloe was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in September 2025. Because of the aggressive nature of this type of cancer, she spent much of her journey in the hospital, facing every challenge with incredible strength and courage.

After a tough battle, 16-year-old Chloe has officially rung the bell, marking the end of her cancer treatment and the beginning of a new chapter.

Inspired by the nurses and caregivers who cared for her, Chloe now hopes to become a pediatric nurse herself. We couldn't be more proud of her resilience, determination and heart. We can't wait to see all she accomplishes in the future.

Congratulations, Chloe! 🔔 🎗️

Did you know atrial fibrillation (AFib) is a major risk factor for stroke?

For many people living with AFib, blood thinners can help reduce the risk of stroke. But for some patients, long-term medication may not be the best option.

Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Calif., is helping expand access to advanced stroke prevention options, including a minimally invasive alternative for certain patients.

More options mean more personalized care and more ways to help patients reduce their stroke risk.

Every 20 seconds, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with , affecting more than 1.7 million people each year. Sepsis is a life-threatening response to infection that can develop quickly and requires urgent treatment. Infections that lead to sepsis most often begin in the lungs, urinary tract, skin or gastrointestinal tract.

Knowing the signs could save a life. If you or a loved one has an infection and suddenly seems much sicker than expected, seek medical attention right away. Early recognition and treatment are critical.
