60 years ago, our story fit inside a six-bed home in Santa Ana.

The young women who walked through those doors needed a place to rest their heads, people who would show them compassion, and a chance to think about what came next. Over time, the needs of our communities changed, and Crittenton grew with them.

Our work expanded into foster care, mental health services, supportive housing, and family preservation. Our reach grew from one home in Orange County to communities across Orange, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties.

Today, over 2,000 children and families are part of that story.

A lot has changed in 60 years. The future we are working toward has only grown bigger: more children healing from trauma, more families growing stronger together, and more young people moving into adulthood with the care and opportunities they deserve.

It started with six beds. Sixty years later, we’re still moving futures forward.

A child’s need for care does not always begin close to home, but the support they receive can start right here in our communities.

Crittenton is looking for foster parents in San Bernardino, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties. The children we serve come with their own stories, needs, hopes, and experiences. What they deserve is someone ready to welcome them with patience, care, and the willingness to show up.

Foster care is a big decision, but you do not take the first step alone. From the first conversation to training and ongoing support, Crittenton walks with you as you learn what it means to open your home to a child.

If you live in one of our service areas and foster care has been on your heart, this is your invitation to begin.

Fill out our foster parent interest form and start the conversation.

Foster parents shape the everyday moments that help a child feel safe, cared for, and seen.

A meal at the table. A ride to school. Help with homework. Someone staying calm when the day feels hard.

Those moments matter.

When you open your home, you give a child more than a place to heal. You give them care they can count on, support they can feel, and room to change their story.

If foster care has been on your heart, Crittenton is here to walk with you.

Take the first step toward becoming a foster parent.

Crittenton began as a home for teenaged mothers. Over time, we listened, learned, and expanded our care to meet a broader range of needs. Today, our services support mental health, housing, foster care, family relationships, and the transition into adulthood.

We’ve learned to listen, adapt, and build care around what children and families need most.

As we look toward the next 60 years, we remain focused on helping children and young adults heal, grow, and build futures filled with greater possibility.

What does meaningful care look like to you?

A new school year brings new classes, new goals, and plenty of supplies to gather.

With donations from our generous community partners, we created a school supply station where children and young people in our care could choose the backpacks, notebooks, folders, and classroom essentials they needed.

This station placed practical support directly within reach and gave each young person the freedom to select what worked best for them. It is one of the many ways our team and community come together to ensure young people feel prepared for the opportunities ahead.

Thank you to the partners and supporters who filled these shelves and helped our young people begin the school year ready to learn.

What an incredible time at the SEND Conference!

Over the past few days, we had the opportunity to connect with passionate nonprofit leaders, ministry partners, and attendees who all share one common goal: making a lasting difference in the lives of others.

For us, that meant sharing the life-changing impact of foster care and connecting with those who feel called to provide safe, loving homes for children in need. Every conversation reminded us that when organizations and communities come together with a shared mission, lives are changed.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared your story, asked questions, and learned more about becoming a foster parent. Together, we can build stronger families, brighter futures, and a community where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Until next time, SEND! 💙

Foster parenting begins with care, and training helps turn that care into confident support for a child.

Crittenton prepares foster parents to show up in the moments that matter: helping with school, offering encouragement, supporting mental well-being, and creating a dependable home a child returns to each day.

Every routine, conversation, appointment, and act of patience becomes part of the care a child carries with them.

When a child enters foster care, they bring more than what fits in a bag.

They bring favorite meals. Familiar routines. Words, traditions, memories, and small comforts that help them feel connected to who they are.

A foster parent has the opportunity to protect those pieces while creating something consistent and new. The goal is not to start a child over. It is to give them a home where they feel understood, cared for, and supported as they keep growing.

Crittenton prepares you with training, guidance, and ongoing support so families never walk this journey alone.

If your home has room for patience, curiosity, and care, this may be your next step.
