A Perinatal Health Worker (PHW) is a trained maternal health support professional who combines community health work, advocacy, education, and doula support to care for families throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenting. Rooted in reproductive justice and holistic care, PHWs provide emotional, spiritual, physical, and informational support while helping families navigate the perinatal journey with dignity and compassion.

Virtuous Doula Training Academy is excited to expand our 16-week Perinatal Health Worker Training & Certification Program to Jefferson City, Missouri in partnership with Beni Births and Angela Buckhall.
This hybrid program prepares students to support families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenting through advocacy, education, resource navigation, and holistic care practices rooted in reproductive justice.
PROGRAM INVESTMENT: $4,000
Tuition Includes:
• 16 weeks of comprehensive Perinatal Health Worker training
• Hybrid instruction (virtual and in-person learning)
• Hands-on birth and clinical skills labs
• Trauma-informed and reproductive justice-centered curriculum
• Workforce readiness and professional development
• Mentorship opportunities
• CPR and maternal health skills exposure
• Dinner during select in-person lab sessions
Paid in Full Discount Available:
Students who pay tuition in full prior to the start of classes may receive a 10% tuition discount.
Scholarships and payment plans available for qualifying applicants.
Graduates who successfully complete all coursework, competency evaluations, attendance requirements, and program standards earn certification through Virtuous Doula Training Academy.
Graduates may pursue opportunities in:
• Birth support
• Maternal health advocacy
• Community health programs
• Perinatal family support roles
