I am a Women’s Wellness & Cancer Exercise Specialist who loves to talk about fitting wellness into real life. Rarely do I leave the house without something sparkly, furry or animal print (sometimes all 3) and my "we both agree that we are never getting married but we are totally committed" emerald ring even if it is just a trip to the grocery store or to roadie for my fav drummer (her "husband-like-person", Joe). WARNING: I laugh all of the time, even when inappropriate, most likely because I am trying not to blurt out an inappropriate joke that popped in my head. I truly believe that everyone should make their Mid-years their BEST years and feel compelled to help those who are often ignored or minimized--especially those who ignore and minimize their own needs.

CONFESSIONS OF A PERSONAL TRAINER VOL II

My body fat percentage started climbing again after a steadily decline over the previous 8 weeks of focused workouts, nutrition & sleep.

So what do you think I did?

❌ Do more cardio? THATS A HARD NO
❌ Restrict my calorie? Nope
❌ Cut out carbs? Definitely not that.
❌ Sit in the corner and cry? Not that either.
❌ Give up, eat all the junk and wait til next Monday? Nope, not that either

Here’s what I DID do:

⚡️I INCREASED my calories by 25% 😍
⚡️I added MORE CARBS! 🤤
⚡️I focused on super-nutrient dense foods 🤓
⚡️I made no changes to my movement plan 😱

And guess what?

My Body fat is headed down again. 🥳
My energy is up!
I’m not hungry, craving cake & cookies!

This is exactly why having a certified, experienced coach matters.

Because when progress stalls, the answer is not always “try harder” or punish yourself with more cardio (hard pass 😆).

Sometimes the answer is eating MORE, fueling better, and working with your body instead of fighting it.

A good coach helps you stop guessing and start understanding what your body actually needs.

Especially for us women over 40, when hormones, stress, sleep, recovery, and muscle all start playing by slightly different rules.
