If you've been watching our strength community from the sidelines thinking, "I really want to try... but I've never lifted weights before," this post is for you. ❤️

Over the last year and a half, we've watched our strength community grow in the most beautiful way, and one thing has become incredibly clear: women don't need more confidence before they begin—they need a place that feels safe to start.

That's why we're so excited to announce that Beginner Strength Classes are now a permanent part of our weekly schedule!

✨ Tuesdays | 8:15 AM
✨ Tuesdays | 5:15 PM
✨ Thursdays | 6:15 PM

These classes are designed specifically for women who are new to strength training. We'll teach you proper form, explain everything along the way, and meet you exactly where you are.

No experience required.
No intimidation.
No pressure to keep up.

Just a supportive community that's ready to cheer you on from day one.

If you've been waiting for a sign to start, this is it. We'd love to help you discover just how strong you really are. 💛

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this after class…

“Jessie…I don’t think I worked hard enough because I’m not sore.”

It makes perfect sense why we think that way.

For years, we’ve been taught that a “good” workout leaves us exhausted, aching, and barely able to walk down the stairs the next day. We learned to wear soreness like a badge of honor.

But here’s what I want every woman over 40 to know:

Soreness is not the goal. Adaptation is.

The first time your body experiences a new challenge, it often responds with soreness. That’s part of the normal repair process.

But as you continue showing up, lifting consistently, and allowing your body to recover, something incredible happens.

Your body gets better.

Stronger.

More efficient.

The same workout that once left you sore for three days may eventually leave you feeling…pretty normal.

That doesn’t mean it stopped working.

It means your body learned.

As a coach, I don’t celebrate when my members can barely sit down after leg day.

I celebrate when they confidently grab heavier dumbbells.

When they notice carrying groceries feels easier.

When they get up off the floor without thinking twice.

When they trust their bodies a little more than they did last month.

Those are the adaptations we’re training for.

💛 StrongHER Truth

Soreness tells you your body experienced something new.

Adaptation tells you your body learned from it.

Have you ever worried that your workout “didn’t count” because you weren’t sore? Tell me in the comments. 👇

One of the biggest mindset shifts I wish every woman knew when starting strength training:

You do not need to be destroyed by your workout for it to work.

Your body is not rewarded for suffering.

Your body is rewarded for adapting.

In this week’s StrongHER Science email, we break down what soreness actually means, why it decreases over time, and how to know your workouts are working even when your muscles aren’t screaming.

Blue painter’s tape. ✔️
Tape measure. ✔️
Personal trainer. ✔️

No, we weren’t redecorating the gym. 😂

Today we were working on jump training—one of the most overlooked skills for women over 40.

As we age, we naturally lose power faster than we lose strength. That’s why simple things like jumping, hopping, or getting up quickly from the floor can start to feel harder over time.

Jump training helps you:
✨ Build explosive power
✨ Improve balance and coordination
✨ Strengthen bones through impact
✨ Train your body to react quickly, which can help reduce fall risk
✨ Make everyday movements feel easier and more confident

The painter’s tape and tape measure? We used them to measure each person’s jump so they could see their progress—not just feel it.

Because getting stronger isn’t only about lifting heavier weights. It’s also about moving with confidence, power, and resilience for decades to come.

Have you ever done jump training before? Tell me YES or NO in the comments!

Every strength coach has had this conversation at least 100 times. 😂

“I’ve been lifting. I’m eating more protein. I’m doing everything right… so why isn’t the scale moving?!”

Me: “Girl… just keep going.”

(And then, because I can’t help myself, I launch into the science. 🤓)

Here’s what’s happening: when you start strength training, your body is busy repairing muscle, storing glycogen (the fuel your muscles love), and holding onto a little extra water as part of that process. Those are good signs. They’re part of building a stronger, healthier body—even if the scale is being dramatic.

The scale only measures your relationship with gravity. It doesn’t measure stronger legs, better energy, improved confidence, or the muscle you’re building.

So if you’re showing up, lifting consistently, fueling your body, and taking care of yourself…

Don’t let a stubborn number convince you that nothing is changing.

Keep lifting. Keep fueling. Keep trusting the process. Your body is doing more than you think. 💛

👇 Tell me: How long have you been strength training? I want to know where you are in your journey.

The biggest lesson my 40s have taught me?

Stop earning your rest.

Lift because it makes you strong.
Rest because you’re human.
Play because life is happening now.

I’m trying to teach my daughter that a successful life isn’t one that’s constantly busy.

It’s one that’s intentionally lived.

🤍 Anyone else unlearning hustle culture? 👇

One of the biggest sources of frustration I see in midlife women is the pressure to “get back” to a body they once had.

But bodies are not meant to stay the same.

They carry us through pregnancy, stress, aging, hormones, grief, joy, and reinvention.

And instead of trying to return to who we were, there is so much peace in learning how to support who we are now.

Stronger.

Smarter.

More resilient.

More aware.

More deserving than ever.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to know: what are you learning to accept about your body right now?
