Congratulations to our newest DAISY Award winner, Joseph Lee!
As a nurse on our medical specialties unit, Joe is known for the extraordinary care he provides during some of his patients' most challenging moments.
His nomination came from colleagues who witnessed the difference he made when a patient became distressed during a difficult transition. Although he was assigned to another unit that day, Joe stepped in right away when he was asked to help.
As the care team prepared for the transfer, Joe took time to explain each step, helping the patient understand what was happening and feel more at ease. When the patient became upset, he calmly redirected their attention and made sure a favorite toy stayed close by for comfort.
As one colleague wrote in their nomination, "By being a calm, steady, reassuring presence for the patient, Joe was able to assist in maintaining the safety of this patient while also ensuring the patient's comfort by addressing their specific needs and triggers."
Thank you, Joseph, for the way you show up for patients and colleagues, especially when they need a calm and trusted presence most. Congratulations on this truly well deserved DAISY award!
