The betrayal in their eyes is immediate. 💀

It looks like drama over nothing, but sensory food preferences are real for little ones. When foods cross boundaries, it can cause instant sensory overload or a complete loss of control for a young brain.

Pro-tip: Divided plates are cheap insurance against a dinner meltdown! 🍽️

Parents, what’s the one food boundary your kid refuses to break?

Ever wonder what’s actually happening during your child’s therapy sessions? 💭

To an outside observer, playing a card game, offering choices, or sharing a quick laugh might look like simple downtime. But in child therapy, those subtle moments are the work. From observing how a child handles losing a game to noticing what they avoid saying, every interaction is intentional.

Before a child can open up or work on tough skills, they need to feel safe, understood, and heard. 🧸✨

Which of these subtle techniques surprised you the most? Drop your thoughts in the comments! 👇

ADHD seldom exists in isolation. More than 60% of children diagnosed with ADHD encounter additional difficulties such as anxiety, executive dysfunction, or mood disorders. When academic tasks or everyday activities seem overwhelmingly difficult, it is essential to consider the entire situation 🧠🔗

Asking your child about su***de can feel incredibly scary and uncomfortable, but you don't have to wait for a crisis to start the conversation. 🤍

Research shows that asking directly does NOT put the idea in their head. Instead, it creates a safe space for them to open up and say, "Actually... I'm not okay."

Swipe through for warning signs to watch for and practical steps to guide you through the conversation.

📌 Save this post for when you need a reference, and share it with a parent who might need this guidance.

Behavior is communication! Especially when a child is overwhelmed. 🧠💬

When a student is dysregulated, their brain isn't in a state to listen, reason, or follow complex instructions. It’s simply trying to survive the moment. Expecting logic during a meltdown is like asking someone to solve a math problem while escaping a fire.

Regulation comes before reasoning.

Next time you see a big reaction, try shifting your focus from “How do I stop this?” to “What is this behavior telling me?” Creating safety through connection and co-regulation opens the door for executive functioning skills to kick back in.

Knowing the skill and being able to access it when you’re overwhelmed are two completely different things. 🧠✨

Integration takes time. Real growth isn’t about being perfect the moment you walk out of a session; it’s about those small, everyday choices: taking a breath before reacting, setting a boundary, or simply noticing a pattern as it unfolds.

Progress looks like showing up for yourself in the real world, one small moment at a time. 🩷

Did you know a lot of behavioral issues are actually LAGGING SKILLS? 🧠

When kids act out, shut down, or struggle with transitions, it’s rarely about bad behavior—it’s usually a gap in their executive functioning tools (like working memory, emotional regulation, and planning).
When we teach the skill instead of punishing the behavior, everything changes.
