As you get ready to send your children back to school, remember that a little preparation can go a long way in easing those first-day jitters. Whether your child is excited, nervous, or somewhere in between, these simple tips can help make the transition smoother:

✅ Start practicing the school routine a few days early.
✅ Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep.
✅ Eat a healthy breakfast before heading out the door.
✅ Pack backpacks, lunches, and outfits the night before.
✅ Talk positively about school and encourage them to share their feelings.
✅ If possible, visit the school or classroom before the first day.
✅ Remind your child that it's okay to feel nervous—many classmates are feeling the same way!
✅ Give them a hug, a smile, and reassuring words before they leave.

The first day of school is almost here! Use this final one-week checklist to help your child start the school year healthy, prepared, and confident.

✅ Backpack packed and labeled
✅ School supplies complete
✅ School clothes and shoes ready
✅ Haircuts scheduled (if needed)
✅ Practice the school morning routine
✅ Start an earlier bedtime and wake-up schedule
✅ Healthy breakfast and lunch plans in place
✅ Update emergency contacts and medications with the school
✅ Sports physical and well-child checkup completed
✅ Vaccinations are up to date
✅ Refill any prescription medications or inhalers

🎉 Great News! Weekend Walk-In Hours Return This Weekend! 🎉

Beginning Saturday, August 1st, Gadsden Pediatric Clinic is excited to resume Saturday walk-in hours for our established patients!

We know illnesses and minor injuries don't always happen Monday through Friday, so we're happy to once again offer weekend care to help keep your children healthy.

The Covid kindergarteners are now heading into seventh grade.

These are the kids who ended their very first year of school during one of the most frightening and uncertain moments in recent history.

Their kindergarten year didn’t wrap up with a cupcake party or a hug from their teacher.
It ended abruptly in March—with masks, distance, and the sudden shift to virtual learning.

And still, they kept going.

They learned.
They adapted.
They grew.

Now, years later, those same kids are walking the halls of middle school — and they’re making it through.

They’ve made new friends.
They’ve found their strengths and worked through weaknesses.
They’ve discovered who they are, one class, one challenge, one moment at a time.

And they continue to be shaped not by what they missed, but by everything they’ve overcame.

They’re thriving.
Not perfectly.
Not without bumps.
But they’re doing it.

And we couldn’t be prouder of this tween in-front of us entering seventh grade. 🥹

School is starting back.
Make sure you’re sending your children to school kind.
Not every child is walking through those doors with brand name shoes.
Not every child has a new backpack.
Not every child had the same summer your child did.
We don’t make fun of people.
We include people.
We offer a seat.
We introduce ourselves.
We choose kindness.
Because being kind doesn’t cost a thing.
