Welcome to the neighborhood, Sally! 📕❤️

Last week we got to celebrate a new move in and have a party for our friend Sally!

We got to have her favorite snack, chocolate ice cream (and a few other things made by our residents), and a wine she likes, sweet red wine. We played some fun games, like Sally inspired charades. One of her favorite things is reading so we had an activity where each person was asked, “If your life was a book, what would the title be?”

She said her book would be titled, “My Ex Boyfriends.” We are so excited to have you with us, welcome home!

A night out in Powell! ✨ Our IL residents enjoyed a lovely night out to dinner and a Columbus Symphony performance.

Our night starting with dinner at a restaurant called “Local Roots” in Powell. It’s a farm-to-table American restaurant, where they use locally sourced, Ohio-grown ingredients and meats. All the residents enjoyed their meals!

After that, the residents attended a “Summer Night in Powell” concert by the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. This is a program where the Orchestra goes around different neighborhood to do a more intimate concert. It was a special night for everyone, with old memories being reminisced and new memories being made!

This week our resident made Fresh Summer Corn Salad using our very own parsley from our herbs on the IL balcony! 🌿

We picked the parsley from outside, cut everything up, seasoned it, and enjoyed sharing our creation with everyone!
Being able to create something together and use our own herbs was special and exciting for our residents. It helpful them feel accomplished!

Many of them used to have gardens of their own so it reminded them of back when they would garden!

One way our IL residents celebrated the 250th anniversary of America was by creating their own patriotic door signs!

They painted their signs and made the stripes using tape to help make clean lines, and they made their own bows to go on the flag as well! The residents enjoyed being able to try something new and go out of their comfort zones with each other. One of the best parts about art is seeing how everyone does something a little different.

It was a fun, creative, and interactive way for residents to create something of their own while also celebrating the holiday!
