The UF Health Aortic Disease Center had a strong presence at this year's Annual Scientific Meeting of the Florida Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons, with 15 faculty members and trainees serving as speakers.

The meeting brings together experts from across Florida to share the latest advances in heart and lung surgery to improve patient care. We're proud to have our team helping to lead the future of aortic disease care!

Congratulations to Dr. R. Stephen Smith, professor of surgery, on his presentation at the 2026 Military Health System Research Symposium this week in Kissimmee, FL. Dr. Smith has been part of a team working to provide surgical care training to Ukrainian physicians in an effort to support the military and civilian sectors. By working to standardize training and integrate international best practices in a challenging medical environment, his team aims to improve outcomes for patients across Ukraine.
