Notice to Residents: Dengue Case Confirmed in Citrus County

The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (DOH-Citrus) has confirmed a locally acquired case of dengue fever. In collaboration with Citrus County Mosquito Control, they are enhancing surveillance and prevention efforts, including increased truck fogging, aerial larviciding, and ground inspections for mosquito breeding sites.

Dengue may cause flu-like symptoms, including severe muscle and joint pain, fever, and occasionally a rash, typically appearing within 15 days of being bitten by an infected mosquito. Remember, dengue fever is not contagious and is spread through the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito.

To protect yourself from mosquito bites, please follow these precautions:
- Wear loose-fitting, long-sleeved shirts and pants.
- Use EPA-registered insect repellents on exposed skin and clothing; these are safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women when used as directed.
- Manage mosquito populations by repairing damaged screens and draining any standing water in containers around your home.

The Swimming Lesson Voucher Program is officially back open! 🏊

Eligible Florida families can receive FREE swim lessons for children ages 1-7 through certified swim instructors.

Swimming is a lifesaving skill that helps children build water safety skills and reduce the risk of drowning. Apply for your voucher at FloridaHealth.gov/WaterSmart.

OFFICIAL MEETING TIME: 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm

This will be an extremely important meeting as we must consider the new bylaws that have been previously circulated. These new bylaws, worked on extensively with the Executive Committee of the NCFTA, will give us a much more nimble organizational structure and allow us to carry our momentum forward. Please make every effort to attend.
