Brave Space Retreat is happening this September at Hilton Head Island.

We chose a specific beach community on Hilton Head Island on purpose and it wasn’t just for the beauty. It’s the kind of place your body responds to before your mind catches up. Wide quiet beaches, the tide keeping its slow steady rhythm, marsh light in the mornings, the sound of water that doesn’t want anything from you.

We picked it because a worn-out nervous system doesn’t heal in a conference room. It heals near the ocean. 😇

And that matters more for us than almost anyone. You spend your days being the calm in someone else’s storm, absorbing and steadying and holding. Rarely does your own system get a turn to power down.

So it stays a little braced, a little on, for months and years, until “”exhausted”” just becomes your baseline and you stop noticing you’re carrying it.

Here’s what the ocean does that willpower can’t. It gives your body the one thing it’s been waiting for, the signal that says you’re safe now, you can stop. Your breath drops to match the waves. Your shoulders come down. The tab that’s been running everyone’s crises in the background quietly closes. That’s not indulgence. That’s your nervous system finally being allowed to reset.

That’s the whole design of these four days. We slow down together on that beach, move through Brené Brown’s Gifts of Imperfection for ourselves this time instead of for a client, and let the place do what it does. You’ll sleep deeper than you have in months. You’ll remember what un-braced feels like.

Rest was never the luxury. Leaving a field you love because no one told you to stop, that’s the real cost. Come to the water instead.

Most retreats hand you CE credits on topics you’ll forget by Monday or a heavy download of notes you’ll never look at again and send you home more exhausted than when you arrived. Ours looks nothing like that.

📌 Here are five things we do at our Gifts of Imperfection retreat that you have never experienced at a professional and personal development event.

Number one: we keep it tiny. Twelve people. Not two hundred. No name tag, no getting lost in a ballroom, you’re a person here and by day two these are your people.

Number two: every session is experiential. Nobody is reading PowerPoint slides at you for six hours. You’ll have your hands in paint, in a journal, in the actual work so you don’t just learn the tools, you leave already using them.

Number three: zero upsell. Nobody’s hiding the good stuff behind some $2,000 course you buy later. We go all the way in Brené Brown’s work, Internal Family Systems, art therapy, the Guideposts to Wholehearted Living and you walk out with the real tools you came for.

Number four: somebody finally takes care of you. Five-star beach house, private pool, rooftop deck, every meal handled, steps from the ocean. For four days, you are not the one holding it together for everyone else. You get held.

And number five is the best part — the room. You’ll sit in a circle of therapists and helping professionals who carry exactly what you carry. No performing. No ‘I’m fine.’ No shrinking. We are not discussing revenue or strategies. Just some real restoration and renewal of your personal and professional self.

Picture this: you share a room or stay in a room next to another therapist and realize she’s just as burned out, just as creative, just as human as you and for the first time in your career, you learn to go slow, renew and replenish.

That’s Brave Space. Hilton Head Island, this September.

September 24-27, we hope to see you there. Head to the link in bio or comment RETREAT and we’ll send you everything. Only twelve spots.

Here we go 👇

1) Four days where the only nervous system you’re responsible for is your own.
2) Sunrise beach walks, an art table and dinners with zero notes to write after.
3) A spacious house with a select group of people who do exactly what you do and finally, fully get you.

Day 1: You show up Thursday around noon and there’s already coffee and snacks waiting, no agenda yet, just settle in and breathe. We hand you your book and your journal, we build the container together and then we ease into the very first guidepost while the afternoon light does its thing.

That night? A sunset walk on the beach before dinner. Firepit, s’mores and the kind of easy talking that happens when nobody’s performing.

Day 2 and 3: find this gorgeous rhythm. Wake up early and walk the beach if you want to (fully optional, no one’s checking). Help yourself to a gorgeous continental breakfast spread that’s waiting for you. Grab your coffee or tea, and then join us to dive into the guideposts together.

We’ll have real breaks, somatic check ins, and we won’t rush. Lunch is ordered in for you, and after a short post lunch guidepost, we have a long stretch at the beach (or you can nap in your room, or whatever you need —pool, book, whatever fills you back up. Dinner’s relaxed, on your own or with the group, and the firepit’s there again at night for anyone who wants to keep talking under the stars. That’s Friday and Saturday.

Day 4: On Sunday we gather one last time for a final art activity and a closing circle that, honestly, nobody wants to end. And if you want to linger on the beach till the afternoon, stay. You’ve earned every minute of it.

That’s the whole thing. Rest that’s actually restful. Brené Brown’s Gifts of Imperfection as our map. 18 CEUs. People who hold everyone all week and finally get held themselves. You’ll leave lighter and more like you than you’ve felt in a long time.

Come. You deserve this!

If you are a therapist or a healer you know the real care for the Self. Not the bubble-bath kind. The kind that actually quiets a system that’s been taking in too much for too long.

Here’s some of what we practice down at the beach once every year at Brave Space Retreats:

1) Sitting in silence, together. A few unhurried minutes where nobody talks, nobody fixes, nobody fills the gap. You’d be amazed how rare and how regulating that is when you do it in a safe room with others like you.

2) Actual sensory removal. Phones put aside, notifications gone, no one paging you back into a crisis. For once your brain isn’t tracking twelve inputs at the edge of your attention. It gets to drop to one.

3) Making something with your hands. No outcome, no critique, no productivity, no judgement. Just the strange relief of creating purely because it feels good.

4) The guideposts. You’ve walked clients through this kind of work for years. Here you finally move through Brené Brown’s Gifts of Imperfection slowly, as the person doing the healing, not leading it.

5) Single-tasking on purpose. A sunrise walk where the only job is the sand and the tide. Watching pelicans soar over the waves. A meal you actually taste because you’re not doing anything else.

6) Being in a group you don’t have to hold. At the firepit at night, you’re not the steady one. You get to just be a person among people which your nervous system reads as safety, deeply.

None of this asks you to be more disciplined or more optimized. It asks you to take *in* less, so your overstimulated system can finally power all the way down. That’s the whole design.

Come be gloriously under-stimulated for four days. You’ve earned the quiet.

Too busy to do a retreat? I know. Your calendar’s full, it’s meetings back to back and there’s always someone who needs you…your kids, your family, your clients, all of them at once, all the time.

But here’s the thing. YOU are the foundation that everything else is built on. When you’re running on fumes, everything you’re holding up starts to wobble, even if no one else can tell.

Taking care of you isn’t the thing you get to after everyone else. It’s the thing that makes everyone else’s progress possible.

And there’s never going to be a perfect time. There’s no magical week where the calendar clears and everyone stops needing you and it finally feels convenient to rest. That week isn’t coming. So let it be NOW. This is the age and the stage where you turn some of that care back toward yourself before the tank hits zero, not after.

📍 Four days on the beach at Hilton Head.
Brené Brown’s Gifts of Imperfection as our map, an art table, sunrise walks, a room full of people who know exactly how full your plate is because theirs is too.

You’ll get off the hampster wheel. You’ll breathe. You’ll remember who you are really are underneath everyone who needs you. And you’ll join a community that will help you stay connected to her.

The busy will still be there when you get back. But you’ll come back to it recharged, recentered, and a whole lot more like yourself with 18 CEUs in hand too. 👒

Stop waiting for the good time. Make this the time.

“Somewhere along the way it got squeezed out, didn’t it?

Making things with your hands. Playing. The part of you that used to write bad poetry or repot plants at midnight or sit at a piano for no reason at all. You didn’t decide to give it up.

It just quietly lost to the caseload, the notes, the person at home who needed you, the kids or friends or colleagues who needed you. And you’re so good at what you do, you kept showing up. it’s just what you do.

But when you that first walked into the field, you weren’t yet a professional. You were curious, and connected, and played and created things just because it felt good. And that’s the version of you you’ll get to know again during these 4 days.

✅ We do this at the beach. We use Brené Brown’s Gifts of Imperfection as our map — the guideposts, the wholehearted living work and we actually do it for ourselves this time instead of walking a client through it. There’s an art table. There’s the ocean right there. There’s a group of people who carry exactly what you carry and don’t need you to hold it together for once.

You’ll leave lighter. People always do. And you’ll have 18 CEUs to show for the time you finally took.

If some part of you has been missing that person you used to be, come get her back.
