These findings underscore the urgent need to educate parents, caregivers, and youth about the risks of ma*****na exposure. Children deserve protection, not products designed to resemble candy, cookies, or other treats. Until children's safety comes first, ma*****na commercialization will continue to carry preventable public health consequences.

The ten states with the biggest relative increases in 988 hotline calls between 2022 and 2024 had an 18% decrease in su***de deaths. Those states included North Dakota, Virginia, Indiana, New York, Rhode Island, Missouri, Maryland, Vermont, Connecticut and West Virginia.

Su***des among teens and young adults declined after the launch of the 988 National Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Oklahoma is endeavoring to continue funding the hotline.
