Brain fog is real.

And not only because of early dementia. Long-covid, peri-menopause and menopause, gut-inflammation, sleep apnea, B12 deficiency can all play a role. Cancer treatments and busy distracted lives too, although not mentioned here.

See your doctor to determine the underlying cause, follow here, and reach out if you need strategies to help.

Brain fog has become an important part of the conversation for many conditions, including perimenopause and hypothyroidism.

What a magnificent weekend with this incredibly special group of people who joined me at Yogaville for Clarity of Mind: Essentials for Brain Longevity. I'm already hearing their stories of using their tools at home. So grateful to get to know each and every one of them.

Also grateful to the wonderful people at Satchidananda Ashram-Yogaville who took such good care of us while we were there. The food was delicious and nourishing. The yoga and meditation classes were meant to bring us back to ourselves and they did just that. Such warm hospitality.

Your brain loves change and our brains learned new things and enjoyed the change of scenery in and around Yogaville.

🙏

Something wonderful happened recently. I became a grandmother for the first time. 👶

Her name is Nora, and she is pure joy.

I want to be there for her — playing with her, telling her funny stories about her dad, building memories together.

I'm also aware that because my mother had Alzheimer's, I may be at greater risk. And the statistics for women are not encouraging:

- 2/3 of the Alzheimer's cases in the U.S. are women
- 1 in 5 women over 65 will develop Alzheimer's.

But research tells us that over 40% of cases may be preventable with the right lifestyle choices.

This is why I do this work.

And this is what I want to share with you.

Join me August 7-9 at Yogaville in the Blue Ridge Mountains for Clarity of Mind: Essentials for Brain Longevity.

We'll learn, move, breathe, and practice together — and you'll leave with real tools you can use every day.

Three weeks out. Book it now. I'd love to see you there 🙏

You love doing your daily crossword puzzle and you think you are doing good brain work.

Not so fast.

It may not be good enough. If you've been doing the same puzzles for years, from the same sources, you get to know the common patterns and words. Your brain isn't actually working that hard.

Ever notice how when you switch to another publisher or source of puzzles it's harder? That's making your brain work more. Better yet, switch to a different kind of puzzle and create new neural pathways.

I always did crosswords. My husband always did Sudoku. We switched! We still get to enjoy our own puzzles if we want. But now we're asking our brains to work in completely different ways.

Had no idea? Well I'll share lots of good tips like that at my Clarity of Mind: Essentials for Brain Longevity workshop this summer at Yogaville, Aug 7-9. Learn more here: https://www.yogaville.org/yoga-programs/11827/clarity-of-mind-essentials-for-brain-longevity-2/
