“I’m not going to limit myself just because people won’t accept the fact that I can do something else.” — Dolly Parton

There’s something powerful about a woman refusing to accept the limits the world has imagined for her.

Dolly built a life by doing exactly that — while remaining unmistakably herself along the way.

Women’s lives are full of transitions that can make old definitions stop fitting. Motherhood. Career changes. Loss. Hormonal shifts. Relationships. Starting over. Simply getting older and knowing yourself better.

At Tides + Light, there is space for all of it — for women to care for their mental health while discovering what comes next.

Because sometimes growth isn’t about finding your way back to the woman you used to be.

Sometimes it’s realizing how much more of her there is still to become. 🌊✨

Rest easy, Dolly. Your light will keep shining. 🤍

Women spend much of their lives navigating transitions.

Some are joyful.
Some are painful.
Many are both.

What often goes unnoticed is the emotional work those transitions require—the shifts in identity, relationships, routines, expectations, and the way we see ourselves.

Those experiences can shape mental health just as much as biology, hormones, or life circumstances.

As a Certified Grief-Informed Professional, I believe recognizing the emotional impact of life's transitions helps us provide more thoughtful, compassionate care. Because understanding a woman's story is just as important as understanding her symptoms.

This really resonated with me.

There is no such thing as a "good" patient or a "bad" patient.

You don't have to earn good healthcare by staying quiet, minimizing your symptoms, or worrying about being "too much."

As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I often meet women who apologize for asking questions, second-guess their own experiences, or hesitate to speak up because they don't want to be difficult.

Your questions matter.
Your concerns matter.
Your lived experience matters.

The best healthcare happens when patients feel safe enough to share honestly and providers are willing to listen with curiosity, compassion, and respect.

You deserve to be heard. 🌊✨
