Mary Ellen Guernsey, age 77, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, at Westmoreland Care & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on January 26, 1949, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Marty and Bunny Emerick. She leaves behind her brother, Ken (Carolyn) Abramson; her son, Chris (Jody) Hammond; and her daughters, Sherri Dunham and Rebecca (Kevin) Quinn. Every October, the leaves begin to change, and not everyone loves what that means. Colder days are coming, and the trees start to look bare instead of full.

But there is something beautiful in that transformation.

The leaves do not fight the change, they let go in full color, one of the most beautiful sights of the year.

This fall, we are thankful for that reminder. Letting go does not have to mean loss. Sometimes it just means making room for what comes next.
