Jim Butler

Jim Butler, age 89, of Gallatin, entered into rest on Monday, May 25, 2026. He was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, to his parents, James and Mary Butler.

As a young man, Jim honorably served in the United States Army. Following his military service, Jim married the love of his life, Annette, and together they built a life centered around hard work and service to others.

Jim worked for 33 years as an information technology professional with General Foods in White Plains, New York. He was also deeply involved in his community and proudly served as an elected town official in Oradell, New Jersey, for twelve years during the mid-1970s. In addition, Jim served as president of the Lions Clubs International chapter in Oradell, where he dedicated his time to helping others and improving his community.

After moving to Gallatin, Jim spent countless hours enjoying the game of golf. A meticulous and dedicated golfer, he proudly achieved two holes-in-one during his years on the course.

Jim and Annette Butler were members of St. John Vianney Catholic Church for many years.

Jim will be remembered as a kind, considerate, and generous man whose life was marked by service, integrity, and devotion to those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

James “Jim” John Butler is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Annette Butler; nephew, Shawn Butler (Xiomara); and niece, Michele Stekler (Scott).

A funeral mass will be held at St. John Vianney Church, on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM, (located 449 N. Water Ave., Gallatin, TN, 37066).

Jim Butler will be entombed in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum (340 Ridge Rd., North Arlington, NJ, 07031), on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

Leopold Weber (June 28, 1938-May 21, 2026)

Leopold Weber, 87, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on May 21, 2026.

Born in Germany in 1938, Leo immigrated to the United States in 1964 with his wife Finni and infant daughter. He arrived in the United States where he joined Volkswagen as a master mechanic, bringing with him a lifetime of skill, precision, and a quiet work ethic that endeared him to colleagues and neighbors. After many years of dedicated work in automotive service, he later joined Donnelley Printing Company in Gallatin, where he continued his steady, reliable service as an Electronic Technician until retirement.

Leo was known for his stories, generous patience and deep commitment to family. He loved working with his hands, whether repairing an engine or tackling a home project. He was a devoted husband and father whose calm presence and steady humor comforted those around him.

He is survived by his daughter Marion Miller (Joe) and son Michael Weber (Brenda) grandchildren Savannah Dreblow, Michael Weber (Krissy), Jessica Evans (Matthew), Lainey Fuqua (Kyle), Faith Austin (Jacob), and Katie Stengel (Nathan), Jonathan Buckley, Grace Kelly and great grandchildren Luna Weber, Nadia Weber, Ayla Weber, Hannah Phillips, RaeLynn Evans, Natalya Keith, Finni Marie Keith, Abel Merritt, Zoey Merritt, Ava Stengel, Miller Stengel and friends who will remember his stories, loyalty, and gentle spirit.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, from 12pm til 2pm at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin. A funeral service officiated by Father Jacob Bottom will be held at 2pm. Burial will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lance Snyder, Travis Neeley, Kyle Merritt, Matthew Evans, Jacob Austin, and Alex Gonzalez.

This morning, the staff of Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center had the honor of delivering breakfast to the dedicated men and women of the Gallatin Fire Department during Firefighter Week. 🚒❤️

Margaret Minette Ginn Shadie

Margaret Minette Ginn Shadie, 92, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026. Born on March 22, 1934, in Machias, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Vernon Ginn and Mary E. Strong Ginn. Margaret’s life was marked by a profound commitment to family and service.

Margaret began her journey of service early, joining the Women’s Army Corps in 1952 at the age of 18. She honorably served her country until 1954, a period during which she demonstrated the resilience and dedication that would characterize her entire life. Following her military service, she devoted many years to her career as an administrative assistant at the West Virginia State Museum.

Family held a central place in Margaret’s heart. As the eldest sibling, she played an important role in helping to raise her brothers and sisters, setting a foundation of love and support within her family. She was cherished by her siblings, including her sister Loretta Eastman, who survives her. Margaret’s devotion extended to her own children, Jane (Chris Hickey) Shadie and Charles E. (Christine) Shadie, as well as to her grandchildren, Eleanor Shadie and Michael (Micha Bayato) Shadie, all of whom carry forward her legacy of strength and compassion.

Margaret and her late husband shared a lifelong bond rooted in their mutual respect and dedication to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. As lifetime members, they were very active in the VFW Post 1590 community in Daytona Beach, FL, a testament to their shared commitment to veterans and civic duty. This involvement was a significant chapter in Margaret’s life, reflecting her enduring spirit of service beyond her professional and familial responsibilities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Charles Michael Shadie; step-father Maurice French, Jr.; sister Shirley Harris; brothers James Ginn and Skipper Ginn.

Her passing is deeply mourned by those who knew her, yet her memory remains a beacon of dedication, kindness, and unwavering love. Margaret Minette Ginn Shadie leaves behind a legacy cherished by family and friends alike, a legacy built on service to country, devotion to family, and passionate engagement with her community.

John William Hayes III

John William Hayes III passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Born September 15, 1956, in Metuchen, New Jersey, he was the son of the late John William "Jack" Hayes, Jr., and Ann Rebekah Russell Hayes.

John graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School in the class of 1974 before earning his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He retired after more than 20 years as the IT Director at HCA, where his leadership and expertise were deeply valued.

A man of many interests and talents, John was known for his love of coin collecting, woodworking, genealogy, and boating. His keen curiosity and passion for exploring family histories underscored his deep appreciation for heritage. Beyond these hobbies, he was a spirited University of Tennessee football fan, whose enthusiasm was infectious at every game and gathering.

John's personality was as vibrant as his interests. A natural prankster with a wonderful sense of humor, he brought joy and light-heartedness into the lives of his family and friends. His exceptional skill at barbecuing was legendary, often serving as the centerpiece for gatherings where he delighted in feeding those he loved. These moments of fellowship reflected his generous spirit and commitment to nurturing relationships.

He was profoundly proud to be a grandfather, cherishing every moment with Ethan, Evan, Luke, Phoenix, Gunnar, Elijah, and Nora. John was a devout Catholic and a dedicated member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Linda Moore and Sara Hayes.

John is lovingly survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Angie Fulkerson Hayes; his children, John (Karyn) Hayes IV, Philip (Michelle) Hayes, and Kristin (Josh Pruitt) Hayes; his siblings, Patty Needham, Debbie Marshall, Jolie Hayes, and Don (Mandy) Hayes; and his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride.

Family, friends, and all who knew John are invited to honor his memory with the following services: Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by a Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m., both at the Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin. A Funeral Mass remembering John's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 19, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 449 N Water Ave, Gallatin, with Father Richard Childress serving as Celebrant. Following Mass, burial will be held at Sumner Memorial Gardens, 420 Albert Gallatin Ave, Gallatin.

John’s life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and friendship. His warmth, humor, and generosity will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the love he shared will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

Clyde A. Chambers

Clyde Alan Chambers passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Carthage, Tennessee. He was born on December 26, 1951, in Nashville, Tennessee.

He was a graduate of Gallatin High School, Class of 1971.

Clyde was a dedicated public servant who devoted 30 years of service to the Hendersonville Fire Department, from 1985 to 2015, rising through the ranks to retire as a Captain. He joined the Tennessee Army National Guard immediately after graduating high school in 1971, and retired in 2001 with the rank of Sargent 1st Class E7 as a Motor Sargent after 30 years of service. He started at the CO B 3 109th Armory in Gallatin, TN, and finished at the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Springfield, TN. He also served as an EMT with the Volunteer Ambulance service prior to joining the Fire Department.

Beyond his professional services, he loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle and meet up with old classmates and retired firefighters for lunch.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Douglas Chambers and Janice Cage Chambers Scott and his wife Donna Fort Chambers.

Clyde is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Krystle) Chambers; daughter, Jennifer (Shane) Chambers Kinne; step-son, James Benjamin “Ben” (Katie) Fort; step-daughter, Brandi Ghergia; grandchildren, Aliyah Chambers, Hailey Chambers, Destiney Staggs, Nataley Staggs, Chelsey Staggs, Emma Chambers, Parker Chambers, Logan Williams, Caleb Kinney, Mia Fort, Ali Fort, Matthew Ghergia; brothers, Terry (Vickie) Chambers, Ronnie (Stephanie) Chambers; sister, Diane Chambers; and the mother of his children,Gail Bell Chambers.

Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and again on Friday, May 15, from 10:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment in Crestview Memory Gardens will immediately follow.
