Mosaic Foundation At Mosaic, we unite diverse elements—programs, resources, and people—into a harmonious whole that supports seniors and their caregivers.

Mosaic (Formerly Seashore Gardens Foundation) enriches the quality of life for the aged in southern New Jersey, guided by the Jewish tradition of caring and charity, and adapting to an ever-changing environment. Like the pieces of a mosaic, each contribution is unique and essential, creating a beautiful and impactful picture of care. Discover how we bring connection and care to aging individuals and their families.

Throwback Thursday: We’re looking back at a fun excursion to Gardner’s Basin in Atlantic City with residents of Seashore Gardens Living Center (now Atlas at Seashore Gardens). Days like these were all about getting out, enjoying the community and making memories together.

Creativity was in full bloom at BERON Jewish Older Adult Services (JOAS)!

Seniors put their own colorful spin on fall during a pumpkin-painting session through Mosaic’s Brushes & Blooms program. The afternoon was filled with creativity, conversation and plenty of one-of-a-kind pumpkins!

Brushes & Blooms brings art and horticultural therapy together to promote creativity, connection and well-being among older adults. For more information, including how your senior group might participate, visit https://mosaicgiving.org/about-us/brushandblooms.

It depends. Is it a safety issue, such as when you see your loved one reaching for a hot stove? Or is it a fact that they’ve gotten wrong?

A helpful question to ask yourself: Does this need to be corrected or does your loved one need to be redirected? Otherwise, you can leave it be – and let them guide the conversation.

Throwback Thursday: Music has the power to lift spirits, spark memories and bring people together at every age. We’re flashing back to a beautiful day when the Schultz-Hill Foundation brought the joy of live jazz to the garden at Seashore Gardens Living Center (now Atlas at Seashore Gardens).

When a child asks a hard question about dementia, it can be difficult to know what to say. You don’t have to have the perfect answer. You can say you wish they could get better, too.

Tell them that there will be better days and worse days. What children often need most is reassurance, honesty, and the feeling it’s okay to ask questions.

October is National Long-Term Care Planning Month – a good reminder to have that important conversation.

Long-term care planning can mean talking with family about your wishes, considering where and how you’d like to live as you age, understanding potential care needs and costs, and making sure important legal and financial documents are in place.

You don’t need to have every answer today. Starting the conversation is an important first step.

Throwback Thursday: A staircase filled with familiar faces — and so much Seashore Gardens history. Taken at our 2015 Summer Gala, this photo brings back wonderful memories of the friends and supporters who gave their time, energy and heart to enriching elder lives. The former Seashore Gardens Living Center is now Atlas at Seashore Gardens.

Know your person. Know the signs.

When Capt. “Sully” Sullenberger began showing early signs of Alzheimer’s, the changes were small — and easy to dismiss. His wife, Lorrie, shared an important reminder for families: Pay attention to what’s unusual for the person you know and love.

Changes in memory, behavior or everyday routines may be worth a conversation with a healthcare provider. Recognizing the signs and seeking answers early can make a difference.

Read more about Sully’s story.

Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger details the first signs of Alzheimer’s he noticed before his diagnosis and opens up about treatment, his future and how his family is facing what comes next.
