Meet our Pug Therapist, Flash.
Flash has been spreading love, comfort, and plenty of smiles through pug therapy with seniors. He has a special way of brightening a room, whether he’s giving snuggles, sitting in someone’s lap, or showing up dressed in one of his many adorable costumes.

Flash may be small, but his mission is big. Bringing joy, companionship, and a little extra love wherever his paws take him.

We are honored to introduce our Forever Hug Bereavement Program at North Star Hospice. šŸ¤

At North Star Hospice, we know that love doesn’t end when someone we cherish is gone. Our Forever Hug Program was created to give our families a meaningful keepsake… something tangible they can hold onto as a reminder of the love, comfort, and connection they shared.
Because sometimes, we just need one more hug to hold onto forever. šŸ¤šŸ«‚

Meet our Hospice Chaplain | Commissioned Pastor

Terry A. Collins is a commissioned pastor with a servant’s heart and a deep commitment to providing compassionate spiritual and emotional support to individuals and families facing some of life’s most difficult seasons. He brings a calm, steady presence, practical wisdom, and a faith-centered approach to ministry, with a particular passion for walking alongside those experiencing serious illness, grief, loss, transition, and end-of-life concerns.

Terry’s ministry preparation reflects his commitment to thoughtful, compassionate, and competent spiritual care. His training includes Lifeline Chaplaincy Levels I and II, Expository Counseling through ECTC, Personal Prayer Partner training, Trauma REBOOT Graduate Facilitator certification, and SYMBIS Facilitator certification. He is also continuing his studies toward Biblical Counseling Certification through both the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and the International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC). Terry remains committed to continued learning and developing new ways to effectively care for, encourage, and pray with those he serves.

Through his church and community, Terry has served in multiple volunteer ministry roles, including Prayer Partner, Hospital Ministry, SYMBIS Facilitator, and Trauma REBOOT Facilitator. These experiences have strengthened his ability to provide a compassionate presence during times of crisis, listen without judgment, maintain confidentiality, support individuals and families through difficult conversations, and offer prayer and spiritual encouragement consistent with each person’s needs and wishes.

Terry and his wife, Helena, have been married for 27 years and are the proud parents of three children: Avery, Brennan, and Ryker. His family has a longstanding commitment to their church community, including 30 years with New Hope Community Christian Church and previously 10 years with Fellowship Bible Church. Faith, family, service, and community have remained central throughout Terry’s life.

Prior to focusing more fully on ministry, Terry spent more than 29 years as a custom home builder. His professional background developed a strong work ethic rooted in integrity, responsibility, attention to detail, excellence, and service to others. Those same qualities now shape his approach to pastoral and spiritual care.

As a Hospice Chaplain, Terry desires to meet patients and families wherever they are in their spiritual journey, honoring their individual beliefs, values, traditions, and preferences. His goal is not simply to provide answers, but to be present—to listen, pray when welcomed, offer comfort, facilitate meaningful conversations, support families through anticipatory grief and loss, and help individuals find peace, hope, meaning, and dignity at the end of life.

Terry views hospice chaplaincy as both a ministry and a privilege: an opportunity to serve patients, families, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary hospice team with compassion, humility, respect, and genuine care.

Welcome to the North Star family, Terry.
