UTMB continues to monitor a weather system affecting Southeast Texas. The National Weather Service has now placed portions of the region, including Galveston Island, under a Tropical Storm Watch.

The risk of heavy rainfall and flooding remains until Thursday morning. Winds may increase across Galveston Island tomorrow morning into the early afternoon, which could affect travel conditions at times, particularly on bridges and elevated roadways.

Currently, UTMB locations remain open and operating under normal conditions.

Employees should stay in contact with their supervisor/faculty advisor if adverse conditions may affect safe travel to or from UTMB locations.

Visit utmb.edu/alert/ for complete weather monitoring updates.

For some women, menstrual pain can be so debilitating that it interrupts their day-to-day routine, making it difficult to focus on work, family and everyday activities.

UTMB Health specialists like Dr. Emily Sendukas, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, want patients to know these symptoms should not be normalized or ignored. There are ways to properly diagnose conditions like endometriosis, along with treatment options that can help improve quality of life.

The team at UTMB Health encourages patients to seek the support and care they need. To learn more about endometriosis and the gynecological care team at UTMB Health, visit: https://utmb.us/fsw

Members of the UTMB OB-GYN faculty contributed to the Cesarean Delivery Special Supplement published by The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology

Developed to share institutional expertise, the supplement examines best practices in cesarean delivery, an increasingly important topic, as nearly one in three babies in the United States is delivered by cesarean section.

Through editorial leadership, scholarly writing, and instructional video production, the UTMB OB-GYN team—including faculty leaders, residents, and fellows—demonstrates UTMB’s experience in caring for both routine and high-risk pregnancies.

Currently, hospitals, emergency rooms, and clinics are expected to operate on normal schedules. Students, please monitor messaging from your individual schools regarding any changes to academic schedules. As with any weather event, conditions and forecasts may change quickly. All UTMB faculty, staff and students should take time now to review their personal and workplace emergency plans.
