As we welcome the month of August, we also welcome the sweetness of late summer into our yoga practice on and off the mat! In ancient Chinese philosophy, the year is divided into five seasons, with late summer being a time of abundance, harvest, and transformation. This season corresponds to the Earth element as well as to the spleen and stomach organs, which are responsible for digestion, immune function, and overall vitality. It’s a sweet season—nature is bursting with fruit and vegetables, yet this sweetness can sometimes reflect imbalances- like cravings for sugary foods that signal a disharmony in the spleen and stomach.
Late summer is a transitional period that prepares us for the cooler yin seasons ahead. During this time, you may notice feelings of fatigue or sluggishness, especially if you’ve been overexerting yourself or experiencing emotional stress from the energetic heat of the Summer . To support your energy- prioritize rest, and gentle movement like yoga. Nourish the body with earthy foods such as cooked root vegetables, mushrooms, chestnuts, and organic fresh produce in your area. Avoid overtaxing the digestive system with raw, fried, or overly rich foods, which can hinder the spleen’s ability to transform and transport nutrients.
Supporting the spleen and stomach involves mindful practices such mindful breathing, gentle stretching, and a yoga practice that has you moving slowly and gently- holding poses for 2 to 3 minutes. Take short breaks throughout the day from mental activity, and use stress relief techniques- such as pranayama or meditation to help clear your mind and boost your immune system. In your Yoga practice on the mat- hold poses for 2-3 minutes. This will help target the meridians associated with these organs, promoting harmony and restoring energy. Remember to approach each pose with softness, avoiding pain or discomfort, and focus on deep, mindful breathing to deepen the benefits.
By nurturing your Earth element during this season, you can maintain balance, boost immunity, and enjoy the natural abundance around you. 🌱 Join me for Pilates this evening from 5-6pm

Today we welcome a full moon of in the air sign of Aquarius! Aquarius is the innovator, the rebel, and the one who cares about the collective. Aquarius understands that as we’re all different, we’re all the same and honors and celebrates the weird and wonderful in us all.
Full moons are a moment of culmination, and honestly this full moon feels like the culmination of everything July has been building toward. The quality of time is vivid and full of possibility, capable of producing events that feel like genuine turning points. This could mean a breakthrough, a social shift, or a new voice entering the collective conversation that will affect us for a long time. Where are magic and splendor joining together with discernment? And can we embody both clarity and wonder simultaneously?
This full moon asks us to embrace our vision, creative truth, and to try on possibility. Here are a few writing prompt for this Full Moon:
What creative projects am I currently working on, or want to begin?
What dreams or goals from my New Year’s resolution list have I been hesitant to pursue?
How can I inspire others?
What does individuality mean to you? Now consider the various roles you play in life ( daughter, sibling, friend, employee, ect.) How do you maintain your individuality while fulfilling these roles?
Write a letter to your future self, envisioning the person you want to become in terms of individuality. What steps can you take now to align with that vision?
Describe the kind of impact you want to have on the world as an individual. How can your unique qualities contribute positively to the people and communities around you?
What do you need to release on a physical or mental level during this full moon? Wishing you all a wonderful full moon day!

This week kicks off with Saturn returning retrograde in the sign of Aries-just after mercury wrapped up its own retrograde. Saturn’s energy is more subtle; it teaches us through responsibility, discipline, and deep inner work. Between now and December, you might find yourself revisiting 2026 New year’s resolutions: promises you made to yourself, unfinished projects, health goals, or personal commitments you’ve been avoiding because they felt overwhelming. The key is to be honest with yourself about what needs to be done, and break it into manageable steps. The more accountable you are now, the more satisfying it will be when Saturn turns direct and shows you what your consistency has built. On July 26th a major shift happened: the lunar nodes changed signs, starting an 18 month new chapter. The north node moved into Aquarius, urging us toward humanitarianism, innovation, and community- while the south left Virgo and entered into Leo- asking us to let go of ego, selfishness, and the need to do everything alone. With Leo season and Jupiter also in Leo, it is truly a powerful time to embrace your confidence, creativity, and willingness to be seen and balanced with the awareness that we’re stronger together. On July 29, the full moon in the air sign of Aquarius highlights this nodal shift, bringing it into our emotional awareness. It’s a great time to reflect on the intentions from February’s Aquarius new moon and solar eclipse- think about how far you’ve come since then, what you’ve accomplished, and the growth you’ve experienced. If there’s still something in progress, stay hopeful- August may bring breakthroughs and fresh movement! It’s going to be quite a week, so open yourself up to this energy packed week. “The healing is not the destruction. It is not the day you know it is finally time to uproot your life. It is not the moment you tell someone they are no longer welcome in your life. It is not the hours you spent decluttering physically and mentally. It is not the minute you walk away.
The healing is how you gradually allow your soul to drip into your days again. It is how you show up more fully now that the debris is cleaned, and the roads are unblocked, and your life is once again renewed and refreshed and freed. It was never about whether or not you had the courage to light fire to what was, it WAS whether or not you were willing to plant a seed in its place, and to grow what was always meant to be.”

The light does not choose who to shine upon.
It beams, it radiates, it spreads to every open space. All of the grass on the entire earth does not have to compete for the rays of the sun that nourish it. There is enough for every blade, all the billions of them- and that is the lesson.
Join me for Piyo from 12-1 or Pilates from 5-6pm.
