We have so much love for Braille Notes Choir! 🎶❤️ These talented singers thrilled us with an in person concert, and they were incredible. A special thanks goes out to Kenny, who dedicated his song to the Sisters in the audience…much to their delight.

We learned from Cleveland Sight Center that there’s more than one type of braille? Braille isn’t a language, it’s a code that can be used in many languages. There’s braille for math, which is different than braille used for writing the alphabet. There’s even sheet music braille, where the braille dots represent parts of musical notes instead of letters.

🎂For all you do, this Bud’s for you, Edna! 🍺
Join us in celebrating Edna on her 105th birthday! She enjoyed a couple of favorites while celebrating with friends and family in the Jennings Pub…cake and a Budweiser - her favorite beer.

After living most of her life in Cuyahoga Heights, Edna moved to Jennings in 2016. She fondly recalls her loving husband Tony, to whom she was married nearly 60 years. Edna enjoyed a career in the Cuyahoga Heights school district.

Edna says there is really no secret to becoming a who is still very independent, but she shared one great tip: “I get up in the morning and do what I’d like.” However, friends say she is easygoing and has been good at reinventing herself. She has a lifelong talent crocheting, and when she retired she she started to whittle wood. When she could no longer make those figures, she started painting and won local awards.

What she likes best about turning 105? A lot of good memories! 📸

This Memorial Day, we remember all those who gave their lives in service so that we can know the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

God of power and mercy, you destroy war and put down earthly pride. Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears, that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters. 🔥Come, Holy Spirit! On Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles. "And there appeared to them parted tongues as of fire, which settled upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in foreign tongues, even as the Holy Spirit prompted them to speak (Acts 2, 1-4).

At Jennings, we also remember our founders, the Sisters of the Holy Spirit, as this is their feast day. The Sisters felt called “to be always responsive to the Spirit’s Holy inspirations...” especially in decision making, ministry guidance, daily work and serving where there is the greatest need.

Through the Holy Spirit, we each have unique gifts that we use in different ways but all for the same mission and the same God. In the legacy of our founders, the Sisters of the Holy Spirit, we remind each other to use our gifts and honor the gifts of others so we may all benefit the greater good. They inspired each person - resident and staff alike - to use their unique gifts.

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;
there are different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God
who produces all of them in everyone.
To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit
is given for some benefit.
As a body is one though it has many parts,
and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body,
so also Christ.

“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.” We honored members of the Jennings family who died over the last six months with a memorial prayer service in Holy Spirit Chapel at Jennings’ Garfield Heights campus. It was a privilege to celebrate their lives and remember what they have meant to us.
