🚨🐾 OPERATION BREAK THE CYCLE: JUSTICE IS MOVING FORWARD! 🐾🚨

Remember the 24 dogs our Animal Services team rescued from deplorable conditions back in August? Well, we have a BIG update to share!

BOTH OWNERS INVOLVED IN THE CASE HAVE NOW BEEN ARRESTED AND FORMALLY CHARGED WITH ANIMAL CRUELTY 🚔

When our team first responded, they found dogs living among f***s, urine, and trash, with many severely malnourished and needing immediate medical attention. Our team stepped in, brought these animals to safety, and began giving them the care they desperately needed!

But our work didn't stop at the rescue ❤️🐶

Saving these animals was only part of the mission. Pursuing accountability is another. Since the beginning, our Animal Cruelty Unit has worked closely with the City Attorney's Office, Dallas County District Attorney's Office, and Garland Police Department to pursue this investigation and the appropriate legal action. We're also working together on other criminal animal cruelty investigations throughout Garland because protecting animals in our community is something we take VERY seriously!

And we want to make one thing crystal clear...

ANIMAL CRUELTY HAS NO PLACE IN GARLAND! 🚨

Our team will continue investigating abuse and neglect, working alongside law enforcement, and standing up for animals who cannot speak for themselves!

🚨 SEE SOMETHING? SAY SOMETHING! 🚨

If you know of an animal being abused, neglected, or living in unsafe conditions, PLEASE SPEAK UP! You can contact our team confidentially to share your concerns, and we WILL investigate reports of suspected animal cruelty.

Don't assume someone else has already reported it. Your call or email could be what helps save an animal's life!

📧 Report Suspected Animal Cruelty: [email protected]

A HUGE thank you to our Animal Cruelty Unit, City Attorney's Office, Garland Police Department, Dallas County District Attorney's Office, our medical team, and everyone involved in this case! From rescuing these dogs to pursuing criminal charges, this has been a tremendous team effort ❤️

And to our community, thank you for continuing to stand with us and helping protect the animals who need us most!

24 dogs. One mission. ZERO tolerance for animal cruelty 🐾💪

Yalitza Aparicio never planned to become an actress. Born in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, she was preparing for a career as a preschool teacher when director Alfonso Cuarón cast her in Roma — her very first film role. 🇲🇽👏

Her powerful performance as Cleo earned her a 2019 Oscar nomination for Best Actress, making her the first Indigenous woman ever nominated in that category. She also made history as the first Indigenous Mexican woman to appear on the cover of Vogue México, bringing greater visibility to Indigenous women and Mexican culture. ❤️

Today, Yalitza continues to use her platform to advocate for Indigenous communities, education, and representation. Her journey is a reminder that extraordinary opportunities can come from the most unexpected places. ✨
