Cervical cancer screening is an area where practices have an important opportunity to reconnect patients with preventive care.
National Cancer Institute research found that 23% of women eligible for cervical cancer screening were overdue in 2019, compared with 14% in 2005.
Practices can make progress by starting with manageable steps: identify patients who may be overdue, assign clear ownership for outreach, and use upcoming visits as opportunities to address screening when appropriate.
