💜💚✨ HOOD THERAPY CORNER IS OFFICIALLY 1! ✨💚💜

Today, 9/25, marks ONE FULL YEAR of Hood Therapy Corner. 🥹🎉

And whew… it has NOT been easy. There have been moments when I questioned myself, got tired, felt discouraged, and wondered if what I was doing was really making a difference.

But I kept going.

Because somewhere along this journey, God stopped letting me question my purpose and started showing it to me. 🙏🏾

To every guest who trusted HTC enough to sit with me, share your story, be vulnerable, educate us, laugh with us, cry with us, and heal with us — THANK YOU. You helped make HTC what it is.

To every person who watched, shared, commented, supported, encouraged me, or simply sat quietly on the other side of the screen listening — THANK YOU. 💜

HTC started as an idea, but it has become so much more.
Real people.
Real stories.
Real healing.
Real conversations.
Community. Support. Impact.

And we're just getting started.

I'm thankful that God gave me PURPOSE, even when I didn't completely understand what He was building through me.

This October, HTC presents BEYOND THE PINK: Real Stories. Real Survival. Real Healing.

I’m looking for women AND men who are breast cancer survivors and are willing to share the part of the journey we don’t always see behind the pink ribbon.

The diagnosis. The fear. The fight. The changes. The support. The healing. And what life looks like afterward.

I’d also love to hear from caregivers and loved ones who walked beside someone through breast cancer.

This isn’t about having the “perfect” story. It’s about telling the real one. 💜🎀

Su***de is affecting our community, and silence will not protect us.

Among Black Americans, adults ages 25–34 had the highest su***de rate from 2019–2023. During that same period, the rate among Black men was more than three times the rate among Black women.

Our young people are hurting too. In 2023:

• 19.6% of Black high school students seriously considered su***de
• 15.9% made a su***de plan
• 10.3% attempted su***de

These are not just numbers—these are our sons, daughters, friends, family members and neighbors.

Check on the strong friend. Check on the quiet child. Ask directly: “Are you thinking about hurting yourself?” Then listen without judging, dismissing or trying to rush them through their pain.

What happens when the power goes out and you're caring for a neurodivergent child?

For some families, it’s more than an inconvenience. It can disrupt routines, emotional regulation, comfort, communication, and the sense of safety their child depends on.

Join Hood Therapy Corner as we sit down with Antonia Rutledge, a board-certified and licensed Occupational Therapist and founder of OpportunOTies Therapeutic Consultation Services.

Antonia will be speaking about the adversities parents of neurodivergent children endured during the recent power outage, what we can learn from their experiences, and how our community can better prepare and support these families during future emergencies.
